Invite oops

I met with my GP yesterday and she has referred me to a specialist to talk about next steps and possible testing related to TTC.  She also recommended DH go with me so the doc could talk through things with both of us.  So I made an appointment with this doctor and sent an outlook invite to DH at work so that it's in his calendar and he doesn't book any meetings at that time.  Since he's travelling and I didn't have time to discuss it with him, I just put into the invite that this guy is a gynaecologist and specializes in fertility and reproductive medicine, etc.

It wasn't until I'd sent it off, and got back an "accept" from him that I realized that his admin gets all of his calendar invites and has full access to his calendar details.  And then when I was talking to DH later and apologizing about sending something so personal, he let me know that not only his admin sees it, but his calendar is open to his entire team!  Surprise Yikes.

Luckily he was pretty quick to delete it, but I just about let all his coworkers in on our fertility issues.  Lesson learned for next time.

Re: Invite oops

  • Eek! That's super awkward. Any socially awkward members of his team who might mention it at the next gtg?

  • Yikes! At least it was deleted fast.

I've have done the same thing though. Mine wasn't so personal though. It was for a concert. DH was told countless times. Have fun at the show. :/

  • Glad he could delete it. I am always afraid I am going to send the wrong email to the wrong person.

  • Oh dear! Well, did his team really see it between when it was accepted into the calendar and when he deleted it? Hope not!

  • Yikes! So happy he could delete it. Hope to many people didn't see it.

  • Fingers crossed that not too many people saw it, and that his admin is discreet about the invite!

  • Luckily, I'm thinking it's unlikely that anybody really saw it before it was deleted. His admin might have, but I don't really know her.

On a related, my manager just came up behind me to say good night.  I was nesting (yeah I'm bad, but it's the end of the day), so I did a quick alt-tab before turning around to talk to him.  After he leaves, I turn around to see that instead of the excel doc I though I had open, I've brought up that same appointment on the screen, with "gynaecology" in big bold letters.  My boss is cool, so I don't care too much, but what is it with that meeting??!  I think it's time for me to go home.

  • Maybe it's a sign of good luck, as in you'll get PG before the appt rolls around?

Anyway, I'm sure if anyone saw the appt on your DH's calendar, they'll be discreet about it.  It is pretty funny though that you clicked over to it while your boss was there.  That's so something I would do!

Ha! You poor thing. Well, I will hope that your manager wasn't reading you appointment when he stopped by and most likely your H's co-workers didn't pull up his calendar before he deleted it.
