someone here was running it too.
how did you do?
did you wear a costume?
are you still sore?
did you see race photos are up today? i look like a mess in them.
Re: oddysey half marathon
i ran my first real race in november, rothman 8k. kept at it, running thru winter and just completed my first half marathon last sunday.
Congrats on your first half marathon! Did you have fun? Was it last weekend? You had nice weather.
I did not run it, but I have heard good things about the race. I don't usually wear costumes at races, since I get sweaty and gross (a costume would up that factor earlier in the race and I'd be miserable).
I was supposed to run a trail half marathon this Sunday, but the mr hurt himself in a nighttime trail race on the 14th and has been taking it easy. So, just practice runs this weekend.
Congrats again!
the weather was cloudy and cool - which was perfect. the course was thru fairmount park, near memorial drive, then it was up west river drive allllll the way until like east falls. and it was very pretty.i was having fun. i wore headphones and was really enjoying myself.
fun until....the last mile. it was up a BRUTAL hill. just cruel. terrible to put a hill at the end.
there were many people in costumes, which were a nice distraction, but i couldnt possibly be anything but RUNNER.
i chewed watermelon flavored gu chews throughout the race. like one gummy every mile. it was really more a placebo than anything else.
like broad street, i had to stop to use a porto potty around mile 8. i have to work on that.
we were done and home by 11, showered and got brunch, and then napped for most of the day.
my hip flexers, the things that keep my legs on, are still pretty sore but i'm drinking water and stretching. i'm going to do a light run today (like 3 miles) and friday. and do a 5k thru the zoo next saturday.
erbur - sorry to hear about mr erbur's injury!
krystal - good luck!
