Small Town Police Beat

These are actually from my small town newspaper:

Some cows escaped their pasture and ate some tomato plants and a peach tree sapling around 7 a.m. Friday in Dawson. The reporting deputy did not find the cows on the property when he arrived, but ?hoof prints? and ?bovine droppings? were observed in the immediate vicinity of the damaged plants.

A license plate was reported stolen from a Dawson address Friday.

A criminal trespassing order was taken out against a woman who ordered food from Bancroft?s store in Powell, but wouldn?t pay when she arrived. It wasn?t the first time it had happened, according to the complainant.

A man who was shooting at cans in his driveway sent fragments of can, concrete or bullet into two of his friends who were standing nearby around 2:15 a.m. Sunday morning just outside of Frost. According to the report: ?Alcohol was involved.? No charges were filed.

  • You want to know what's even better? My MIL lives in Dawson and has a peach tree and tomato plants! No idea if it was her or not. I texted her, we will see!

  • That's too funny.  I'm from a small town and our police beat is always similar.  I do love the one about the cows, though.  Sounds like they did some serious investigating.  Maybe if they make a mold of the hoof prints, they can find the guilty cow.
  • Haha, I love it!

I'm from a small town too, and the police beat USED to look like that... now unfortunately it mostly has to do with drugs and drunk drivers.

    Sad.
