My fiance started his job in November. He is in an executive level position at a large corporation. He gets 3 weeks of vacation time a year and has thus far used 2 or 3 days of it - one at Thanksgiving and the other two on a long weekend after a family emergency.
We are getting married in 16 days on June 11th. We had originally decided not to take a honeymoon immediately after the wedding because it looked like I may be starting a new job (I'm currently in transition), but that fell through so now we're thinking last minute about taking a honeymoon.
FI has already taken Thursday, Friday and Monday off the week before/after the wedding. He's thinking about taking the whole week after the wedding off for our HM. Part of me says, "Do it, it's our wedding." And another part of me says it's too short notice and too new in a position for him to ask for that much time off at one time.
WDYT?
Re: Would you ask for the time off?
There is no harm in ASKING. If I were him, I would go to his boss and just briefly explain what you said here, ask for the time, but add on that he fully understands if it's too short of notice.
If they say yes, awesome. If they say no, then so be it and he just needs to be gracious.
