Because the sun is shining... And because inquiring minds want to know.... (and because a FB friend of mine posted pics of herself at a pool wearing a thong bikini, causing me to wonder how many people would be comfortable to do that.)
[Poll]
Re: Swimsuit poll
Oooh, I messed up. I clicked tankini, but just remembered that I posted a pic of me with all my girls at my bachelorette party on my blog, and I was in a classic bikini in it. That was a really rare case though...in general, I'd prefer the tummy covered in public (i.e. with anyone but friends and family, and for sure anything where photos will be taken).
And pg is a whole 'nother ball game. My mom initially wanted to throw me a "pool party" baby shower and I was like - uhm...no. I started to warm up to the idea a smidge since it's all people I'm close to, etc... until Ryn reminded me that a shower is an event where people take photographs. I promptly told my mom I refuse to wear a bathing suit in the vicinity of cameras at 33 weeks pregnant :P
I voted itty bitty bikini.
I don't take pictures in a bathing suit and post them, but I wear one all the time and lay by the pool with lots of neighbors around.
Can you add a full bodysuit?!
I am not very comfortable in any bathing suit. I am still trying to get the courage to put one on to go swimming @ the Y! That is how much fear I have right now....
Hm, kind of a tough question with you throwing "past" in there also.
Now: Classic bikini or bikini top with skirted bottom. I'd go topless, if the situation called for it.
Then/early 20s: Went to nude beaches a few times and otherwise wore skimpier bikinis with very cheeky bottoms.
Honestly, it's more a question of what I think my body can pull off, at a given time, while still looking good/the suit still being flattering.

I didn't include "nude" because I figure "nude beaches in another country" are different than regular beaches/pools around here.
The question is really related to what do you wear (or have you worn) in public at an average pool/beach.
Congrats on your LO!
But this is a GREAT time to rock a low cut bathing suit top - not only do low cut tops facilitate breastfeeding (just nudge it down a little) but the size of the girls distracts the eye from all other body flaws! I swear that's why people thought my baby bump was so small - it's not that the tummy was small at 9 months pregnant but that my boobs had gotten SO big they dwarfed it.

I voted itty bitty bikini as well. I have some photos from the honeymoon on FB that I am wearing some smaller bikinis but def. not the smallest.
At Tahoe not too long ago, DH and I forgot swim gear, and I ended up wearing a silver sparkly thong bikini. NO pictures of that, but I wasn't going to miss out on hot tub time.

Yes if you go to Tahoe in October/November and don't have a suit, they aren't easy to come by. And the only one left in my size was a total tribute to the 80s early 90s.
There's a nude beach right next to Stinson and if you're at the nude beach when the tide is low and you don't realize Stinson is just around the bend... Voila! You are at normal beach with not-so-normal (lack of) attire.

I lived in racing suits until I was 18 then I switched to the "classic bikini."
Now I wear specialty tankinis because I feel like 1) As a mommy I need to dress a little more modest for my kid's swim lessons and 2) I have a tiny mommy ridge in my tummy from having a 9 lb 5 oz baby. Boo. But it is shrinking as I lose this weight from surgery...so the classic bikini might make a come back for non-swim lesson events. Cross your fingers!!!
Money Matters The other half's blog.
EJ is growing up too fast!
Haha. Yeah... I've been sure to avoid that one before. haha.
Ditto, though normally its a bikini for me.
Ditto most of this. I've actually shown more skin as I got older due to confidence and probably just finding colors that worked for me. Dang, I wish I would have worked it more when I was younger though! What was I thinking?
