P goes to bed at 10? can we discuss normal schedules for that age? I was under the impression I'll see the babies for like 2 hrs a day. How much does he sleep?
Re: becky/baby schedules
He has never been a sleeper. Even when he was a newborn, he was awake most of the day, and he has really only ever taken one 1-2 hour nap/day. The pediatrician says it's just his "normal." We tried to push his bedtime up closer to 7 or 8, about a year ago, and he'd wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning ready to go!
Lately, if we can get him outside to play or when he goes to daycare or plays with other kids, he might go down closer to 8 (rarely) or 9. The last couple of weeks of bad weather have been a challenge!
I need to point out that B and I are doing more of a baby/child-led approach to parenting. We listen to cues that he gives us and then design our parenting style appropriately. Kind of like AP, but not completely. The Drs. Sears are my parenting mentors. We didn't do CIO, we coslept until about 19 months, and we approach milestones when he is ready.
We actually finally decided that we needed to get him out of our bed for everyone's sake around 19 months, no matter what, and we decided, "this Saturday we're going to do it, and if we need to CIO, we will." We went to BRU to get a baby gate for his room, and he saw a toddler bed and ran over to it and jumped into it. Then when we were home installing the gate, he did the same thing to his bed. So he decided that that was the day (thank goodness!).
He does have a routine now, but we don't necessarily do it by the clock. We wait for his sleepy cues (rubbing eyes, yawning, personality quirks).
Last night he went to bed at 11 and woke up (on his own) at 7. He also did take a 2 hour nap yesterday from 2-4, which was a little late, which is probably why he didn't go to bed until really late. So I guess he typically gets about 10hrs/ day (nap+night).

I've been blessed with an amazing sleeper. Brody was STTN by 4 months old; he'd be in bed by 9pm and up at 6pm.
Now he's in bed by 7:00 PM and awake at 7:00 AM. It's tough only having him for 1.5 hours from the time I pick him up at daycare until he's in bed, but I know he needs the sleep.
Oh, and he still naps 2-3 hours a day too. My kid loves to sleep
Nonsense! There were times when it was the three of us, the dog and two cats in the bed (when P was older, obviously not when he was really little).
I love my "active child" with all my heart, but I really do wish he'd go to bed earlier. Especially since I tend to need to work at night and B is in grad school and needs the evenings to either go to class or do work. And, you know, spending time with B might be fun, too!

hahaha well the dog gets mad when we're both home. he got SPOILED when i was alone all the time and he got half the bed
now he huffs off and goes to sleep on the couch!
C thinks we'll never let them sleep in the bed. I'm letting her believe that for now...but I do hope we can avoid it becoming a habit since we only have a queen!
We only have a queen, too (you know the size of my house!) but luckily B is a small guy otherwise it wouldn't work!
And I LOVE the image of the dog huffing. Simon has the best sighs. Cracks us up. So much drama in his life!
Oh, and we stumbled upon bedsharing by accident; I was originally against it for us. P and I started falling asleep when nursing, and we got used to it. Then when I went back to work FT when he was 6 months old, I liked it because I could spend that time with him cuddling, even though we were sleeping. Next time around we'll probably get one of those side cars for the bed instead of the stand alone bassinet.

Lucy's bed time has always been around 7 pm.
Right now she wakes between 630-730 depending on the day, naps around 11 or noon depending when she wakes up and sleeps for 1.5-3 hours and then goes to bed at 7.
When L was a baby, I would pump so DH could feed her the night time bottle so that they could have time together. He'd get home from work at 5 and she went to bed at 7
On a related note, my BIL always gives my niece (just turned 1 a couple of weeks ago) her bath, for the same reason. Granted, she doesn't get a bath every single night, but it was something they implemented right away.
