squee...pending engagement
So one of my direct-reports is like 22 and he is proposing to his girlfriend tonight. He just showed me the ring and WOWZA. It is quite the rock. He apparently started saving for an engagement ring in college and would always put X% of his pay in there for when the time came. He is so funny. I am letting him leave work early to go ask her parents' permission so he can propose tonight before leaving for Disney with her and her whole family (it's her parents' 40th anniversary and they're taking everyone to Disney for the long weekend).

So cute! I love that he's been saving since college for the ring! Good luck to him!
I told him he had to text me since I let him leave early :-) he said he hopes she says yes! haha. He moved here to be with her and her dad helped him get his job (he is the president of our parent organization although I hired him without knowing that, he is a good egg).
anyway, he wanted to do some elaborate proposal and the ring was delayed and I told him once he had it, he'd want to give it to her immediately. He picked it up at lunch and was like sweating just having it. haha. I told him that she wouldn't care if he just proposed at her house before bed or something - it would really surprise her and she will love it.
So he left early to go chat with the parents, then he'll go back and pick her up like he's coming from work and they'll go to the parents' for dinner then they fly out first thing tomorrow. I'm excited for him, he is a sweet kid.

i think you all know how i feel about rings/weddings so no shock i think this is a little nuts.
but the whole thing IS super sweet and exciting!!
