Backyard is all weeds. help please.
we just moved into a rental house and the small backyard is all weeds. Looks like the people who rented here before us just didn't do anything.
How do we go about getting rid of the weeds and getting grass in so DS can play in the back during summer?
ETA- We're near birmingham, AL. not in CA anymore. It won't let me change it.
Re: Backyard is all weeds. help please.
If you are renting, wouldn't your landlord or the owner handle lawn care? I would take it up with them. I wouldn't spend much time and energy trying to weed or sod a rental. I'm sure DS won't mind the weeds, but if it really bugs you, check your rental contact to see who is responsible for yard work.
we had to rip out our backyard and re-sod as it was 90% weeds.
you could try killing all the weeds off and re-seeding, but now is not a good time to re-seed, late summer/early fall is ideal

If it is all weeds and you want grass, the only thing you can do now would be to:
Kill, till, fill and sod.

Obviously, this link is about the Houston area, but much of it can translate to the Alabama area.
