Grad party gift question...

What would you say is an "acceptable" amount of money to give a next door neighbor's kid for their graduation?  We've lived here almost a year, have gotten to be pretty good friends with our NDNs but don't see their son much at all - and when we do he's very quiet.  We're invited to his grad party & I'm trying to think about how much to give him.  I usually give $50 to close family friends and cousins.

Thx!!

Re: Grad party gift question...

  • $30? I wouldn't do as much as I would for close fam/friend.
  • I think 20 or so will be fine.

  • A frend of my mom's came to my party and she made a "money" tree...she took one of those sparkly tree-looking centerpieces that have things popping out the top..hard to explain.  Well she rolled up 20 one dollar bills really tight and put them on those "branches"  It was really cute.

    This exactly!

  • No more than $20 - or you can give him an ITunes gift card or something that's equally acceptable by all teenagers. :)

  • Better yet - get him a $30 gas card - we all know how much he's going to be driving around this summer now that he's "free"! He has no idea how much he's about to be spending on gas!!

This is actually a great idea - but his car has been sitting in their driveway broken down since we moved in last July!!  I think they fixed it and it ran for like 3 days then broke down agian.  Poor kid!

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I think we're going to go anywhere between $20 and $30.  :)
