Good morning ladies, I've lurked some on this board when I was heavy into my job search and you all were extremely helpful. I got an email out of the blue last week from a company I had emailed months ago saying there was an opening and they wanted to interview me. The interview was more of a "this is what you'd be doing" type and I got the feeling they weren't interviewing anyone else, if I wanted the job, it was mine. I wasn't looking for a new job anymore since I did get pregnant and I'm not about 11 weeks along (not showing, so it wasn't obvious when I went on the interview) but I figured, what the heck, what's the worst they can say, "no?" Fast forward to last night. I get the offer and it's fantastic, I'm super excited to work for them, advancement opportunities are amazing, and it's just a better fit then where I?m at now (which by the way is closing in the next year).
I'm a little nervous to tell them I'm pregnant. I didn't mention anything in the interview, as I didn't want them to suddenly find "another" person to fill the job, until I saw an offer in writing. I learned that by lurking
Any advice or things to ensure before I formally accept this offer? Thanks ladies!!!
Re: Pregnant with Job Offer
Have a plan in place for how you want maternity leave to work out. You're not going to be eligible for FMLA, and you probably don't know their policy on leave.
Accept the offer, tell them how excited you are to be working for them, and let them know you're pregnant. Tell them when you're due and that you plan to return to work after the baby is born. From there you can start the discussion of how you'll handle it.
Congrats on both fronts!

I'm required to sign a bunch of letters & fax it to them. I was planning on calling them this afternoon to discuss the pregnancy before I faxed them the signed documents. Do you mean by "accept the offer" to sign & fax the papers to them, and then tell them I'm pregnant?
No, I mean call them before you sign and fax and let them know.
