Are you having an IUI this cycle? I thought I remembered something that you might be doing one, but I could be wrong.

Also, I miss you. Tell work that you need more time to nest.

Re: *firewife*

  • LOL - get me a different new manager! Our old manager was pretty lax, and I miss that. Our new manager started 3 weeks ago and let's just say I'm glad I'm on vacation next week :)

We were supposed to do IUI#2 this cycle, but it was converted to a TI cycle due to late response (so no trigger or IUI). I go tomorrow morning for another P4 check to see if I O'd or not. I may have yesterday so fingers crossed! (PS. I always have my siggy updated with current cycle info. It's kinda mandatory on the IF boards)

Boo to the new manager being rough. Hopefully once the newness of the job wears off things will calm down!

Thanks! I am not really hopeful, but I guess you never know ... part of the problem is a wonky cervix shape due to a birth defect - I was preemie (sorry TMI) and most likely that's why we never conceived in our 6 prior medicated TI cycles. Of course, we didn't conceive in the first IUI cycle either so who really knows!

Stranger things have happened - I'm hoping that this TI cycle works for you guys.  And I'm sure we've discussed this but I'm failing to remember - is there a reason you aren't moving on to IVF?

My RE suggested 6 IUI cycles (3 clomid/3 injects) first. We are totally OOP for this so it's already been quite costly. We don't plan on trying IVF at all. The $20k pricetag scares me since there's really no guarantee.

  • Ah - I didn't realize you were OOP with the IUI's - that makes sense.  I know - IVF super expensive.  I really wish the insurance companies would help out more with IF issues - I think it's crap that they basically say if you cannot conceive "natural" then you're SOL

We're OOP for everything. We pay about $1k per cycle with oral drugs, and when we move to injects it will be close to $3k per cycle.

(and we have really excellent - aka expensive - insurance. but I work for the gov't and anything labeled "fertility" is considered "elective" and isn't covered)

that sucks! I am semi-fortunate. Our Insurance pays for testing, meds and ONE IUI per lifetime, so at least one is covered.

  • firewife!!!

Just wanted to wish you luck with your TI cycle this month.  I'm surprised they would cancel it though b/c of responding late--aren't you only CD16?  At what CD do they consider it late?  (Or did they just not see follie progress as they would expect while on the clomid?)

GL--and yeah, the $20,000 price tag for IVF scares me too...Zip it!  A lot...
