Well, we made it!

Happy Friday!  Some of you might have the day off, but I hope all of you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  Just gotta get through the rest of the day then Hubs and I are off to Ogunquit, Maine for a much needed weekend of relaxation.  Can't wait!

Re: Well, we made it!

  • Happy Friday!  I'm ecstatic (see post above).  Having a hard time containing my happiness plus I'm hopped up on Starbucks.  OMFG, the pain and torture is over, I can't believe it...

Anywho, last night I went for a bike ride.  I was cursing our new neighborhood b/c it's all big hills until I stumbled upon a trail.  Happiness ensued and so did 10 miles.  When going back home, I couldn't make it up the monster hill, so I was walking my bike and who happened upon me, but DH.  He rode my bike back to the house and let me take his car.  Such the sweetpea.

Made dinner, unpacked some more boxes, hung pictures and sconces, watched ABDC, read for a while and passed out at 11.  Work bestie is gone today, so I'll be busy.  Hopefully we'll get out early.  Big BBQ on Sunday, my friend is bringing her bounce house for the kids and Blongo (ladder golf) for the adults, so it will be a blast.  Still working on my menu.  Any suggestions?

  • I have zero drive to work right now. There's like no one here, so I can't get much done anyway.

There were ridiculous storms last night. I fell asleep last night at like 8:30 (cause I had all of four hours of very poor quality sleep the night before) and I woke up at 10:30 because our bedroom door was banging around (it doesn't shut right) and there was ridiculously bright lightning and non stop loud as heck thunder and I thought H wasn't home and I didn't know why and last I knew there was a tornado warning and I was freaking out because in my half asleep stupor, I was convinced that the super loud and continuous thunder was a tornado. Turns out H was just in the shower and there was no tornado and I sat in the bathroom, clutching my poor cat until H was done showering and he could go to bed with me. (Idiot for showering in a lightning storm!)

And then I opened my eyes and it was morning and H called me crazy for the happenings of last night.

We're heading down to NJ for the weekend because H's HS friend is getting married (very close to where we got married). We're coming back up here on Sunday and I plan on spending Monday doing NOTHING and eating grilled food and drinking margaritas.

Have I mentioned that I don't want to work?

(An unmatched left parenthesis creates an unresolved tension that will stay with you all day.

  • last night was a rough night and ended chaos, an accident, a gun, me throwing up, crying, and very little sleep.  we are ok, and it is nothing crazy, but i am tired and still a little upset.

so here is hoping today goes quickly.

i think i am going to order a taco salad for lunch today from our local mexican restaurant.  and im skipping double dub tonight because i want to run, as i have not been able to run since MONDAY.

tomorrow we head to CT for a long weekend by the pool with friends :)

  • Shauni- glad your ok, sorry to hear you had such a crazy night.

H works tonight until 11 and then he works tomorrow until 6 but has Sunday and Monday off. One of his friends he went to school with is coming in town from Mississippi so i'm sure we will be hanging out with him Saturday. And BIL and SIL are back from their short HM so I want to see them sometime this weekend. My roomate is going out of town so I will have the house to myself until H is home which will be nice! I have laundry to do and some light cleaning and then can relax and read and maybe veg out and watch some tv.

Shauni - I am glad you are ok but you've got to give us more than that lol.  What the hell happened?

  • Yay for all the great weekend plans.

We hit up the local AA Baseball stadium last night for a game (free tix courtesy of BIL's work).  Unfortunately, Mother Nature let loose with one hell of a lightening show followed by torrential downpour in the bottom of the 7th.  Baby Q was snuggled nicely in his sling and protected but Mr Q and I were soaked by the time we made it to the car.

Visiting my dad for his b-day tomorrow, then a quick trip to CT Sunday morning to pick up an SUV and picnic @ H's cousin's in the afternoon/evening.  No plans for Monday...hopefully cooking out with Mr & Baby Q and just Re-Lax-Ing.  (No, MIL, we don't want to hang out with you, so don't even ask).  Margaritas sound like an awesome idea...

  • Thank goodness it's finally Friday.  This was the longest freaking week ever.  I am so looking forward to a three day weekend.

BTW, there are kittens on the side of our building.  I pulled up into my parking spot and I saw a grey cat.  I got down and looked and there are 4 kittens and the mama cat.  Argh!  What do I do? I don't want to leave them there.  If i try to get them they'll run away and possibly into the street and the mama will get mad.  I want to take one home with me because I have been wanting a kitten so badly.

  • So happy it is Friday!

Last night I had a meeting at work and then a Relay meeting (last one before the event). Finally got home a little after 8, decided there was enough sun to go for a run. Attempted 3 miles, but saw a friend biking and we chatted for a while at a walking pace. Got home and crashed.

Working today then getting the house finished up for company and getting some laundry done. Hopefully squeezing in a run at some point too.

Shauni - glad you are okay.

  • Shauni, we definitely need some details.

I feel like a just dragged myself through this week, and can't wait for it to be over.  I am really, really hoping that I actually lost some weight in the last three weeks - we're weighing in together tomorrow.  Sigh.  Jeff told me that I should buy myself something when I hit the 5-lb mark, but we had a scale mix-up and I had to start all over, so I don't think that will be this week.  Darn.

Tomorrow is a day for relaxing, Sunday is my friend's wedding, and Monday we drive back and then relax some more.  I feel like there's a lot of wine in my future for the next few days.

  • TGIF!

World, beware. I am miserable today. I got 45 farking minutes of sleep all night, and that's no joke. Tossing and turning, hot yet too lazy to turn the air down until 3 a.m., thirsty, bathroom trips, dogs panting, MFD texting. Enough. Hating life today.

Last night I picked up some Patron as a gift at the liquor store, then a pink tank dress at Marshall's for me. I ate naughty things at BK, then got my hair cut, colored and highlighted, then raced to make it to the end of the viewing, which I did. After that I went food shopping, unloaded, packed lunch, read mags, turned the light off at 12:15 and....nothing.

I need to walk over to Verizon, this old phone needs an upgrade, stat.

    I'd like a steak.

    Are we having fun yet?

  • its really nothing that crazy, had a long chaotic night anyway, and then on our way home we saw this woman run into a deer on the road, it just jumped out.  it was still really young, poor, small deer.  some people pulled over right away and helped move the deer off the road but it was very much still alive, just with broken legs.  the poor thing was so scared.  gerren went and helped to move the deer and make sure she did not try to stumble back on to the road.  it was so hard to watch.  i went and helped the woman who hit the deer and called animal control and the cops.  10 minutes later three cops show up.  at this point there are quite a few people standing around, cars pulled over, etc, to make sure everything is ok.  cop pulls up, strides over, and without warning, right in front of me and gerren (like 10' away) just shoots the deer with his pistol.  twice.  most cold and heartless thing ever.

i know the deer had to be shot, but some warning, something.  gerren, who hunts, was LIVID about the way this guy did it.  it was heartbreaking.  he just jumped out of his car, walked over to the edge of the road, no warning, BOOM with his pistol.  i screamed and threw up.  it was awful to see.

  • Misty - my BBQ suggestions:

    Corn dip
2 cans mexi or fiesta corn
    1C sour cream
    1C mayo
    2C shredded cheddar
    1/2C chopped green onions
    1 can chopped green chiles
    1/2TSP salt
    1/4TSP pepper
    1/8TSP garlic powder
    1/2TSP cumin
    2 whole chopped jalapenos (optional)

Mix together and chill. Serve with fritos, tortilla chips or wheat thins.

  • Shauni, WTF. That is so disrespectful to the people on the scene as well as to the poor deer. I would report that jackhole. No warning? Who the eff fires a gun in a crowd of people in the dark with no warning? Oh yes, gangsters and murderers.

I would probably call his superior about this.  He should have not only warned you, but had everyone back away or something - that has to be some kind of safety concern, and it was completely unnecessary.  Yes, the deer needed to be put out of its misery, but an extra few seconds to get people to clear the area or at least look away would not have made a difference to the deer and would have been prudent.

agreed!  his whole approach was wrong even though it needed to be done.  I hope there were no really young children around.  Sorry you had to witness this!
