Reward and Discipline chart for little kids
I'm looking for a good chart system to use for rewarding good behavior and also to use to show consequences for bad behavior. Anybody know of any good ones?
Re: Reward and Discipline chart for little kids
The Learning Post has a couple of very simple charts for young children, but I think they have space for the "chore" and not an area for a consequence. They may have big chart graph paper for making one, too. http://www.chartjungle.com/behavior.html Chart Jungle may have some to print for free.
I don't use charts at home, but many of the parents I work with like them for their family. They typically have a "reward" (book, toy, activity) and the chart outlines expected behavior (brush teeth, use manners, be kind to siblings, etc). For young ones it may work better to have a symbol for the behavior ... like a toothbrush. The "consequence" is not specific to each behavior, but rather that the child will not receive the reward at the end of the week/month. When it comes to behavioral charts, "less is more," and the more simple it is, the more the younger child will understand what it's all about
Good luck -- let me know if you have any questions.
