Yay for Friday!

Morning all!

Today's been a happy day so far.  The scale continues to be good to me, and today is a high calorie day, so I'm savouring a latte!

We don't have any big plans this weekend.  We may be off to have dinner with Tim and Shannon tomorrow.  I'm really proud of Derek and how he's been supportive to Tim through this whole mess.  He's be great about calling him to check in and just be there.

We (finally) watched our wedding video last night.  So that was fun, but wow, our officiant talked a lot!

What does everyone have on the go this (long, for some) weekend?

Re: Yay for Friday!

  • I'm choosing for today to be a positive one as well - in spite of the rain!

I have three weekends left to get all my marking done and set up, so this weekend I plan on getting as many marks as possible input into the computer. It's a tedious process, but it's gotta be done!

Saturday, we're going to Medieval Times with Phil's internet friends to celebrate a birthday (and thus, my vegan week goes out with a bang). Sunday means some cleaning (we have serious laundry to do), grocery shopping and planning my final big assignment for my grade 7s.

  • Yay, Friday! I'm so excited for the long weekend. I've been needing an extra day to refresh my mind. Tomorrow I'll be heading over to Indianapolis for a cookout/swimming get-together at my aunt's house (her pool is heated, hopefully well heated). Then Sunday, the real reason that we'll be heading to Indy, we're going to the Indy 500. This is one of my favorite events of the year. I've gone every year since I was12ish.

I'll head back home after the race on Sunday and then Monday I have no plans. I'm really looking forward to spending the day relaxing and catching up on my sleep and DVR.

Also, my brother proposed to his girlfriend late Wednesday night. He gave me all of the detail yesterday at lunch. Wednesday is their typical date night. He showed up with flowers and a bottle of wine. Then he took her out to a nice restaurant. After dinner he convinced her to play bananagrams, where he spelled out "Will you marry me" on the game board. They would like to get married before the end of the year so they may be planning a wedding in a hurry.

  • Happy Friday! Today will be a busy day at work, but the director might let us out early in advance of the long weekend. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, my little brother is giving me a call before he heads to Spain for the summer and my co-workers want to go out to lunch again.

The weekend should be nice. Saturday we have another early morning meeting with our volunteer group, but it's about books and book reviews, so I'm not complaining. We're then having dinner with some good friends that evening. Sunday and Monday we'll do the usual--cleaning, cooking, errands, gym. Nothing too exciting, but we'll make some time to relax, too.

lol! I remember. As I recall, I learned a few things about the origin of marriage at your wedding.

No plans for tomorrow which probably means we'll be running around doing errands, but Sunday we're going to Whitby for MIL's students' music recital, and then seeing The Lion King with my bro and his gf! Totally excited about LK. We got tickets for my bro and his gf partly as a thank you for being so supportive during the home buying time and also because his gf shares a birthday with me.

  • Raynes- That is so good to hear about Derek and Tim.

abarber340- So how did your future SIL like the ring? Congrats to them and good luck planning.

This weekend should be a fun one. Tonight we have a few friends coming over to cook out and hang out. Tomorrow we have a tball game and Eli is working Saturday night so he will have to sleep. I am going to go grocery shopping saturday afternoon while he sleeps. Sunday I am meeting a few friends for a couple of hours for our kids to play and then hopfully spending some time with Eli. Monday should be a lazy cleaning day.

  • We don't have any plans for tonight, so we might end up seeing some friends, but I'm not sure. Tomorrow we have a ton of errands to do and hopefully an oil change on both cars...before noon. Then it's off to RI to see my mom and family for a bday celebration for mom's boyfriend. I'm not thrilled, but I get to see my family, so that's good.

Sunday and Monday we'll be pulling out some trees between us and the neighbors, swimming in their pool as a refresher, and hopefully some paint? Ugh. This stupid room and needing to paint. It's taking forever!

  • abarber- that's a great story. What's bananagram?

I am really excited we are going on a road trip to Savannah. We are staying at a great hotel that overlooks the river.  I can't wait to check out a new city.

This morning I got us checked in for our flight to Atlanta tomorrow morning.  I also upgraded us to business class (love the $49 upgrade on AirTran).  I figured that since we were leaving at the ass crack of dawn (6:10 a.m.) we might as well be comfortable.

The plan is to make a serious dent in sorting through our parent's stuff and getting it ready for a yard sale/Craigslist/eBay.  We are also having dinner with one of my BFFs and her DH and crashing my sister's trivia team for a night of pub quiz.

    ETA:

@abarber - have fun at Indy!

@eeeva - I love Savannah.  Please to be eating at Mrs. Wilkes for me.

Yeah, thanks for sitting through that, even I was getting bored watching it and it was my wedding!

We're going next weekend with Tim and Shannon!  I'm super excited.  We're probably going to make a weekend out of it and do dinner and stay in a hotel too.  Wahoo!

  • Good morning, ladies

Tomorrow is my daughter's graduation party, then a (minor league) baseball game with DH's BFF.  We're also going to hit our backyard renovation pretty hard - we have a dumpster in the driveway, and will be filling it with the remains of our deck.  We need to get the prep work done to lay the patio (we're using 16"x16" pavers) and get the rest of it planned out with planters, drip system, walkways, etc.  It's 4,200 square feet, so that's a lot of yard to deal with on a small budget.  I don't want to spend a lot of $$ we won't get back when we try to sell next year.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

She loved the ring. Every time I talk to my brother on the phone I can hear her screaming in the background. And the texts that I have gotten from her are all caps and lots of exclamation points. She is very excited and it's cute.

Honestly, I've never played it, but from what I'm told it's similar to scrabble. Here are what the pieces look like.

That's such a cute story.  Congrats to your bro.  And I love that she spelled out "Yes" too!

We have a long weekend here too, so looking forward to that.  I'm so tired today, so just taking it easy tonight.  I have pilates tomorrow morning, and then DH finally gets home tomorrow afternoon.  Then we're heading out to Cambridge for Sunday, and plan to just relax at home on Monday.

  • I think I've been waiting for this 3 day weekend since January!

Tonight we're going out to celebrate my birthday at my favorite restaurant. I think we're finally going to do the tasting menu, but so we can try more we'll order one regular and one vegetarian.

Tomorrow I'm going to the Mariners vs. Yankess (Go Yanks!) game with a former August Knottie - dwilcoxen03, some might remember her as Dani.

Not sure what the rest of the weekend holds, but I'm sure come Tuesday I'll be sad it's over.

  • Happy Friday ladies! Today DH and I are going to a barbecue at a friends house. So excited to be out of the house and spend time with friends. Other than that we don't have any plans for the weekend. Hope you all have a good weekend.
