Anyone work in HR for a Big 4?

I have an interview next week for an HR position at a big four accounting/audit firm, and am wondering if the hours expectations for ops roles are similar to the auditors? I'm planning on asking about this is a much more pc way at my actual interview, but one of the (many) reasons I'm leaving my current position is the long hours and I'd hate to get into a similar situation.

  • I am not in HR, however I am in the assurance practice.  Generally the HR hours are more consistent (i.e. 8-9 hr/day).  Depending on what your HR role would be, there are generally "busy" times where significantly more hours are required.  For example, this would be around the annual review process/compensation periods.

This.  During busy recruiting times if you're a recruiter, hours will be long as you'll be traveling to the colleges etc.

If not recruiting, hours should be pretty standard except for annual review like PP.

  • Thank you!! I'm getting excited about the opportunity, and it's helpful to hear from others that work in similar roles. It's not a recruiting position, and I have no problem working long hours during busy periods - I'm just tired of the year round "busy period" at my current job.
