A new babysitter

Hi Ladies.  While we love our babysitter personally, we have decided to find a new one for various reasons.  None because we don't love her or trust her, just convenience and some other items.  We live in Waterville and Justin works in Maumee so we would like to stay in this area including Pburg.

Does anyone have any recs?

Sloane will go beginning first of August and baby (will be 4 months at the time) will follow at the end of January.  Our hours look to be about 730-430 M-F except for school holidays and vacations.  We would also prefer somebody who does not make you pay on holidays, snow days, etc.  We are in education, quite a few of those days happen and to be frank, that is a deal breaker for us.

We pay peanuts now.  Only $400/week for Sloane with basically unlimited hours, typically 730ish-5ish.  But if it's earlier or later, no extra charge.  We know just for one alone we need to expect to pay more but someone who gives a multiple child discount is great.

Any help or suggestions would be awesome.  We have already talked to one in Maumee but I would like to see other options.  She is more expensive ($3.oo/hour per kid )than our current one.  With baby added, we would be paying an additional $600 a month for the natural increase for just Sloane on top of new baby.

Re: A new babysitter

  • I live in Whitehouse, which is right down the road (on Waterville Street, actually) and I could watch them if you'd be interested.

Sammy will be in kindergarten every other day all day, and Meredith will be home with me so Sloane could have a friend to play with. I don't have any job out of the home other than photography (on weekends) and we have someone who can shoot in my place anyway.

You can email me if you'd be interested at all... photomomma83 at yahoo. I've babysat before, I worked in the Giant Eagle Eagle's Nest (and received training) and took first aid. :)

  • I am currently employed as a preschool teacher at a Headstart location in Toledo, but I have over 7 years of experience working with children, and over 4 years of experience in the early childhood setting- nannying and as an infant and toddler teacher in a Daycare setting. I LOVE working with kids!!! If you're interested at all feel free to email me! smellslikeocean@gmail.com
  • I don't know anyone in that area, but you pay $400 a week??  holy crap, that is expensive, wouldn't a center be half the price??

I did want to recommend sittercity.com or care.com, that is where my cousin found her nanny that comes to her house, there is a monthly fee, but once you find someone, you just cancel.  She has been very happy with the lady she found.

    Good Luck!!!

i had to assume typo too - the daycare centers we have narrowed down to are $175 and $185 a week and even that executive nanny website...thhey are around $350

  • I was thinking $400 a month. Wink
  • I meant a month...........

Well, I think we are sticking with our current sitter.  She offered us a price for 2 kids we will just not be able to top.  It's highway robbery really but it's what she wants to be paid.  With the money we thought we were going to have to pay, my husband can go back to get another master's degree.  It's that kind of money she is saving us....

Thanks for your thoughts and advice anyways!!!
