I recently posted about having two different job offers and not knowing which to take, with much input, advice and contemplation, I decided to take the one that was guaranteed to be FT and in my local area with no commute...
Now, the other job offer came back with more details and I'm back to where I started in my dilemma:
Background: I just graduated with a Masters in Criminal Justice and a Masters in Social Work. I have spent the past 3 years interning in sex offender management and treatment... I have 2 job offers I need to decide by Tuesday which to accept:
Job A - Local (no commute); FT position as a Social Worker with Foster Care Children; excellent salary and benefits package, however I have little experience with children, although it could be an exciting new challenge ...
Job B - 1 hour commute; I would work 28 hrs/week until Fall when I would become FT. Sounds like possibility of fitting in my 35-hr (which is full time) work week into 4 days so I only work Mon-Thurs to save on commuting. I would work as a Coordinator of a Domestic Violence Program and work in Sex Offender Treatment. This would be my ideal job, however it has the 1 hour commute that I am not 100% thrilled about ...and I don't really want to move, b/c I want to live near my family ...
So, my dilemma: Job A or Job B .... A would be an exciting new challenge, local/no commute, although I may hate the work ... B would be an hour commute, but I would be a coordinator of a program, have flexible hours, and I already know I LOVE the work ...
Please provide some advice for this poor lost in her mind gal ... !
Re: F/U & Seeking More Input... 2 Job Offers
What are Job B's benefits like?
I'd seriously consider Job B and moving a little bit, even 15 minute closer. It makes all the difference, and IMO living 5 minutes from family vs 20 minutes isn't a big deal.

Both Job A and Job B have very similar benefits ... Job B has a bit more vacation time though. In regards to moving, I did consider that, but unfortunately anything in the direction of Job B is out in nowhere land ... the commute from where I live now to Job B passes through nothing but alot of corn and cow fields ...
I've been discussing and contemplating it all night with my parents and husband, and I think I'm starting to lean to Job A due to the local nature of the job and that it would be a new experience for me ... a new challenge/chapter in life never hurts; I may end up loving it!
