I am a laundry goddess.

I was doing Quinn's laundry earlier today and somehow a red crayon ended up in the dryer with all his clothes.  Disaster.  I was so upset, as it was a large amount of his clothes, as I hadn't done his laundry in a while.  I googled removing melted crayon from clothes and got some mixed results, but went with what I saw most often.  So after spraying each article with Shout and soaking his whole load of clothes for a few hours in a mix of laundry detergent, Borax, Oxiclean, vinegar, and Shout, all the stains came out! I did quite the happy dance in the laundry room.

I just had to share, since I'm so proud I made this actually work.  Oh, and to anyone who comes in contact with crayons...always make sure they stay far away from the dryer!

  • All hail the laundry goddess! You're my hero! I am awful at getting stains out. I am sure that Zoe will give me plenty of stained clothing to perfect my skills.

  • I am woefully in need of your skills.  I feel like I can never get stains out of anything.
  • Impressive indeed. Tell me, Goddess, how do I get cherry stains out?

  • Hmmm, maybe I should patent this mix and sell it under the Laundry Goddess label.  But seriously, it worked, I think the soaking for a while helped.  I always spray stains with Shout as soon as I can.  Try a mix of what I used, hopefully that will help. Oh, but Jen, there are some baby poop stains that just never come out.
  • Good work!!  Sooooo, do  you think this will work with an entire load of whites that I just turned pink??  :(  I'm so sad.  All my white work shirts, H's undershirts, and one of his fav RL Polos.  He knows about the undershirts but not about the polo yet.  I have them soaking in ice water with bleach and detergent now but it is not helping.  Stinks.  It's about a $200 load of laundry.

ETA The ice water/bleach/detergent soak worked on all but my cheapy white cotton tees which look cute pink.  All traces of pink have left my work shirts, H's under shirts and even his polo (with a little bit around the collar but I will get that out before drying.  I've got this far I'm not giving up now).  and my hands might smell like bleach forever. but I feel like I won too!  Yes!
