Albany area -- tile installation

Hi ladies,

Our tile guy is turning into a flake.  He keeps saying he'll be here tomorrow, call tomorrow, be here next week, etc.  Anyway, I think we may need to hire someone else to tile our shower and bathroom floor.  We really need to get this done.

Does anyone have a local person that they have had install tile that they liked a lot?

Let me know!

TIA!

Re: Albany area -- tile installation

  • Wish I could recommend ours!  But our tile guy flaked out too - in fact our master bath is in limbo for about 2 years now.. he never finished the job and then once DH started his MBA he did not have time for it.  (And he doesn't work through a company, otherwise I'd give you the name of the company to steer clear of).

Your pics remind me of our renovations.  We gutted our kitchen and bathrooms down to the studs.. rewired and replumbed everything, also ripped down walls.. it is a lot to take on!  I remember being preg and laying tiles in our front hall 2am the night before my baby shower!

  • Thanks.  It is a lot to take on.  I had a bit of a melt down yesterday when I heard he was proposing to "maybe" get here at the end of next week instead of Monday.  We are both out of town for work at the end of next week!

I am super tempted to rent a wet saw and teach myself how to tile now!

There is no way I am allowing this not to get done in the next two weeks.  We have carpet being installed in a couple of weeks and then the nursery needs to get set up.  It'll get done somehow... it just may not be fun!  :)

  • My DH bought a wet saw some Harbor Freight.  Originally we were going to rent one but we would have had to rush, and I think the one from HF was about $100 and it worked fine.  We used it to tile our downstairs (front hall, mud room, kitchen).

I am so sick of flaky contractors.  Every single contractor I think we've ever hired, has flaked in one way or another.  Even just getting them to show up for an estimate can be like pulling teeth.

My baby shower (at my house.. long story) was on subfloor.. yup... we ripped out our entire downstairs and so the floors were not in on time!  Of course now that we have kids, we never have time for remodeling!

  • I would page Two~ she has good rec's for home improvement people...

    Thanks!!! Will do!

How are you???  I hope you are feeling good and that you've settled back in from vacation!  I haven't had a second to breathe between work and house crap, but when I can come up for air would love to see you.
