Austin Nesties
Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.

Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

Moving Book Club to FB?

We discussed moving book club invites to FB from evite at the last meeting. Evite is getting to be more and more of a PITA, and there is no room for discussion on evite.

I started jacking w/ FB to see how it works since I haven't created a group before- I did get tips from the Mom's mod on how to set it up as "secret". It's def not official, though.

Also, this would give us room to update/ purge the list annually.

Re: Moving Book Club to FB?

  • That works for me!

The only concern that I could see - not necessarily one that I have, but others might - is that other members of the group have your full name. They can't see your profile unless you're friends with them (depending on your security settings). Since you can't be a member of a secret group without being friends with a member, then I assume we could vouch for each other and keep stalking weirdos out of the group.

This was addressed at the meeting. I have a unique last name and it is a concern I have. However, I think that the Facebook group will only have people in it that can vouch for others, so it isn't as big of a concern.

I think a couple girls have also created FB accounts specifically for the nest groups. The FB name they join the group with is "NestNessia" instead of their real name so if it is really important to someone they have that option.

  • I haven't been able to make the last couple due to being out of town, but I'd still like to be involved, and hopefully make it to the next one. Anyway I can get in the FB group? longhornwedding at gmail dot com
