I've been using the Ergo, which I love. T has been on my back because she is just too heavy for the front. Yesterday, Chris wanted to put her forward facing, on the front, so she could see out. I told him that it wasn't recommended (using words like, it was against the law...lol) by the manufacturer.
So I thought I'd start looking at carriers that can go on your front, but be facing out. I do not like the Bjorn, so I'm not going there. She is just over 25lbs. Tell me what you guys like.
Ready....go!
Re: baby carriers (again)
I think T is too big to fit in any carrier forward facing.
I'd have to agree. Forward facing is generally discouraged because it puts more pull on your back with baby's center of gravity being away from you. I can't imagine doing it with a 25 pounder!
However the Beco carriers get good reviews and will forward face. The seats are wider than the Bjorn, but not as ergonomic as something like a Boba or Ergo. Pretty much anything that will forward face will be less ergonomic for baby since the seat has to be narrow enough for their legs to dangle forward.
We have an LL Bean backpack that DH loves to wear Adrian in. It's a backpack, but high enough that Adrian can see over his shoulder.
You could also side carry the Ergo. haven't done that yet, so no advice, but it's possible.
We also have one of these that we bought when Joshua was little.....he hated it but Leah LOVES it!! However, we found ours at a second hand store in Mass
ps... I think Joshua hated it because he was super spoiled from being held all of the time (the first year going through 5 operations will do that to a child!) so he never wanted to be put in anything!!
Totally agree! We have a backpack carrier which Eli loves because he can see well in it. He also really likes the side carry in the Ergo. It's getting a little big now, but we still use both on occasion.
