How do you have your dvds organized?

We have built in shelves by our fireplace and have our dvds in there.  I'm looking for a new way to organize them because they are two rows deep so they have to be shuffled around to find anything, plus I think it just looks messy.

  • they are in dh's man room. in the closet on a bookshelf.

  • We took ours out of their cases and put them into a DVD storage book. Its huge but we organized them by title so its easy to find.

  • We have them in an older dresser in the spare bedroom. I hate having them out on display.

We keep ours in a dresser as well, I hate seeing the clutter so being able to shut the drawers is great. We have them organized in each drawer by genre.

  • I found very modern looking wire stand racks (maybe at Ikea, or Target?) awhile back that matched the decor of our office, which is really more like a media room with all the computer stuff, CDs, DVDs, etc... So they are on display there, organized alphabetically.

Using a CD book is a good way to get them out of sight if you don't want to display them, but I always found my CDs and DVDs to scratch more easily in those books. You could buy thin jewel cases at Best Buy or another similar store that are less than half the width of a regular case to condense them if you needed to find more space, too.

  • I agree with PP's in that only store your newer or most watched ones out on display and store the other ones on a rack or in something else where. We store ours on a bookshelf in the spare bedroom in alphabetical order

  • Ours are scattered and messy, we definitely need to do something!
