Boo on Prop 8, but YAY on Initiative 11

WTF with Prop 8?  Only 91% reporting (from what I can see), but seriously?  Sad  CA girls: any chance that remaining 9% is from "anti-discrimination" districts?  ::crosses fingers::

On a better note, Initiative 11 in S.D. failed (when have outright banned abortions in the state - accepting death or impairment of a major bodily function of the woman, a rape - but only if performed at less than 20 weeks AND if the rape had been reported to law enforcement AND if the woman consents to DNA sampling of herself and the fetus to prove the rape), so yay!

Re: Boo on Prop 8, but YAY on Initiative 11

  • man those hate mongers did a great job in keeping Florida's amendment two off the national radar. A STATE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT to "define" marriage!

Sorry - I am just beyond angry; the numbers are just ridiculous.

    Slainte!

  • I can't say I'm?surprised?about SD. ?I was surprised that they put it on the ballot in the first place. ?Virtually the exact same thing failed when they put it on the ballot two years ago.

I can't say I'm surprised about SD.  I was surprised that they put it on the ballot in the first place.  Virtually the exact same thing failed when they put it on the ballot two years ago.

There were worries about it because they didn't advertise it very publicly (just to their supporters) so pro-choice groups were worried that it would slip under the radar.  I'd heard from friends on the ground in SD that it probably wouldn't pass, by the Center for Repro Rights was VERY worried about it.

  • I am really upset about Prop 8 passing! Everyone I know, including my family and friends in the Centeral Valley voted no. I had hope...

Unfortunately, the remaining districts will probably go no as well.

Californina, I'm very, very disappointed in you!
