Confession time!

I love entertaining.....but OMG is it ever too much stress to prep for it!  Then I never get to visit with our guests because I always seem to be running into the house for a spoon or to get something for the kids or to make coffee for my ILs or something!  I need a maid! :)  Cookout was fun yesterday and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves - except of course, we started getting rained out around 8:00.  :-/  Thank goodness for the garage and the canopy I bought!

It was a long tiring day yesterday and I dunno how I managed to go to bed at midnight and wake up at 5 am....I hope the next shin dig is at someone else's house!  :)

Re: Confession time!

  • Whenever I have people over, i get all crazy.  I'm already exhausted from cleaning my house top to bottom and then running around making sure EVERYTHING is tip top shape.  I love to entertain, but man...it takes a LOT out of me.
  • Agreed! But for some reason I love to do it and I do it over and over again!!

PS sometimes I don't mind the fact that I get to hide in the kitchen ;) depending on who is here.

  • I feel guilty not spending enuff time with everybody!  And I'm always paranoid of my house getting messed up. LOL  2 things - stained carpet and broken trinkets.  LOL  But I still love having people over.  Mike does too.

Usually when I know someone is coming over with younger kids, I put away the irreplacable things such as my late uncle's Frank Sinatra plate and the crystal vase my MOH got us for the wedding.  They all go in our room and I close the door and put a step stool in front of it which basically means KEEP OUT.  ;)

I totally agree with this! Sometimes it's good to have a reason to escape from some guests.

ME TOO!! I took great pleasure in helping entertain at the IL's house this weekend b/c I could just go run inside and make guac and margaritas when I didn't feel like talking to someone anymore :)
