Grr....Pissed at doctor right now
I need to vent for a second. ?I have a kidney infection, caused by the fact that I'm having a Lupus flare up. ?There are certain drugs that?aggravate?the flare ups, and some that do not. ?The meds that the doc gave me last night at the hospital are generally not a good idea for someone with Lupus.
No wonder I've been feeling so much worse. ?
Thank God I went to my new English speaking doctor today. ?He became really alarmed when he saw what I was on and switched it right away. ?
The good news is I really like my new doctor.?
Re: Grr....Pissed at doctor right now
ugh! Stupid crappy doctors. Glad you got it straightened out.
Ugh, that sucks! Good thing you have a new good doctor!!
Just curious - what's the healthcare system like over there?
It's universal in that everyone has to have insurance. ?It's paid into by individuals and their employers (worker pays 9% of salary and employer pays 26% of worker's gross salary into the system. ?The worker is then taxed on the extra 26% the employer paid into the system for them). ?
I'm not sure about how it works for unemployed Czechs. ?I think maybe the fact that everyone is paying the same percentage but different amounts covers them? ?I'm not sure and have been meaning to ask a Czech friend but haven't yet.
We had to buy a policy for me in order to get my visa (DH is covered under the above system). ?It cost $1k for coverage for the year for everything, no?deductibles?or?copays.
How much doctor choice do you get? Does everyone get to go to whomever they want or do you have to go within a certain area?
If you get complete choice, I hope the doctor's pay is reflected by how requested s/he is.
Katie,
(a) Sorry that you're having kidney issues. I've had them ongoing for the last 15 years or so, and I know it sucks.
(b) Sorry that you had to deal with idiot doctor, but
(c) Glad you finally found a good doctor.
Hope you start feeling better soon.
oh good. Yay for YH's employer!
From the limited data I can find, it looks like lupus is far less prevalant in the Czech republic than in the US (0.5% here versus 0.06% there)..
