Does anyone know if there is any type of dye that is actually permanent? I took my white satin wedding shoes to a shoe repair shop to be dyed black so I could wear them more. As I ran a finger gently over them, my finger turned black. I went back to ask about it, and the guy said that if it's raining when I wear them, all of the color will wash away! I am livid! He said it would be better on a different material like leather, but that's just how it is with satin. I really wish I had known this before spending $25... I find it hard to believe though. Does anyone have experience with getting shoes dyed? Did your color wash out due to water/sweat? I'm afraid to ever wear them...is there a way to make the dye more permanent?
As a side note, I went to Frank's Shoe Repair in Landmark mall. I strongly advise against going there- not only did the dye come off on my fingers, but it was a very messy dye job.
Re: Shoe dying question
I had eggplant colored feet for about 4 days after wearing some dyed shoes for a wedding. Not fun in the middle of the summer when wearing sandals and flip flops.
This was me, but with blue feet after a wedding in the rain. I don't think there is any permanent dye for satin shoes.
