Weird pet odor in our new apartment...
We just got our fist apartment, its really nice, appears clean, has fresh paint on the walls and brand new hardwood floors were just installed before we moved in. However, there is a strange pet odor in the kitchen/laundry room area. Part of me feels like maybe the previous tenants had cats or something and cat pee seeped into the flooring and then the wood floor was installed on top of it. I've cleaned the floors with a Swiffer at least 3 times and it still smells funky. I've been considering buying one of those gel "odor absorbing" products but I don't know if they even work. Anyone have any tips/advice on how to get rid of the weird smell?
Re: Weird pet odor in our new apartment...
Hi, usually just lurk here, but I had this issue in a rental house I lived in, so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.
When we had that issue, I tried everything, but the one that finally worked was something called Nature's Miracle. They have it at the pet store and apparently it is made to break the enzymes that make that smell - so instead of covering it, it gets rid of it. Only caution is that the stuff smells a bit strong when you first use it. I did small areas at a time and it worked out well - totally took the weird pet smell out.
