Already had the interview, have a Q

So I interviewed today, the job is for a customer service rep supervisor, now I know I'm new to the company, but they said they start at .25 over minimum wage.  I have 10+ years of experience in this field.  I don't know if it's improper to as for more than what they said they are willing to pay.  Honestly I was making a lot more at my last job.  I think I'm worth more, but I have only ever had one job since college.  I don't know if this is usual or not.  I also don't know if I am willing to accept this job at this pay.  Do employers "haggle" wages?  Or is it what it is? looking for advise.  Thanks!

Yes, employers want you for the cheapest price they can get you at.  If what they are offering is not acceptable to you, negotiate.  Especially if you're willing to walk away from the job opportunity because of it.  You need to find out what a manager of customer service reps makes, pronto.
  • Thanks for your reply, I'm looking now! :)

  • Yes you can ALWAYS make a counter offer.  I work in HR and deal with negotiations on a weekly basis.

  • I will never not negotiate again :) usually they will meet you half way and if not you might want to consider somewhere else!
