Runners check in!

1) How did last week go?

2) Plans for this week?

3) Any questions for other runners?

Re: Runners check in!

  • I've lost my running mojo. I went out once last month to train for the race I did over the weekend and it was tough. So I was completely unprepared for the 5 miler I did on Sunday. I completed it and my time wasn't terrible but I'm still disappointed in myself, because I wasn't prepared and I didn't do my best.

How do you get back into the swing of running if you lose your motivation?

  • 1) Last week was good.. got 3 runs in (3, 4.5, and 7). I'm trying to get back up to 4 times a week but things are so busy right now.

    2) I plan to do something similar to last week but try to bump my speed a bit.

When I lose my running motivation, I have to set a new goal (ie. sign up for a race and/or pick a new goal time) and then set a plan to achieve it. Then I do everything I can to stick to the new schedule. It helps if your goal is a month or two away so it doesnt seem that far off. I have to be training for something.. otherwise I tend to feel lost and lazy.

    1) How did last week go? good--no real "plans" just getting ready for the See Jane Run 1/2 this Sunday

    2) Plans for this week? See Jane Run 1/2 this Sunday in Alameda--champagne and chocolate!

    3) Any questions for other runners? I just registered for the NorCal marathon in San Jose in September--anyone done this one before?  or the half?  any recommendations on where to stay in San Jose?

    this, for sure!

  • 1. Last week went okay. I'm still working on actually following my training schedule! I'm averaging about 2 runs a week now and would like to have a consistent 3. My schedule has about 5 per week, so I'm slowly working up!

    2.  I was going to go running tonight, but I just feel so drained today for some reason. My gym closes at 9 so I'd have to leave by 8 to get a run in. I do plan on going tomorrow, maybe Thursday, and definitely Saturday and/or Sunday. Maybe I should just go and run a 1-1.5 miles and call it good? I was planning on 3-3.5, but a shorter run might be more doable.

I have to be an AW and say that a woman at work today commented on my weight loss. In the last 13 months I've lost about 25 pounds, 15 of that since the beginning of this year. It's a little weird for me right now because I'm not trying to lose weight like I've done in the past. I definitely have weight to lose, but I am really focusing on being healthy. I don't track my food or worry about how often I'm working out. I'm just trying to be the healthiest me! It's really starting to pay off and I'm really shocked that it's possible without all the obsessive calorie/point counting I've done in the past. It's just nice to feel like I'm finally starting to figure it out.

That is awesome! Thats the best way to lose weight too.. when it becomes your normal lifestyle.

Is this the Silicon Valley marathon? I have had friends run it and liked it. No real suggestions on where to stay.
