Hotel options near the Inner Harbor

We have some friends that are coming to Baltimore in a few weeks.  They want to do all touristy stuff (Aquarium, Science Center, Port Discoery, possibly zoo) w/ their toddler.  I suggested the Renaissance and the Courtyard Marriott in Harbor East, but I'm trying to come up w/ other options too, but I'm having trouble thinking of others.

Suggestions?

  • Hyatt, Sheraton and aren't there a few over in Harbor East? There is a Spring Hill Suites near my office on Redwood street just 2 blocks from harbor.

We recently did priceline (first time) and put a bid on a 4 star hotel in harbor area (I think there are only 4) and we ended up with the Hyatt for $70 a night on a Fri night...can't beat that!

  • Pier 5 hotel or brookshire suites. I stayed at brookshire a while ago and it was nice. Pier 5 looks super fun. I haven't stayed there but it looks nice.
  • I've had friends that stayed at the Hilton in the Inner Harbor and liked it.

If they want to try Fells Point, I've stayed at the Admiral Fell Inn.  It's a cute inn and nice to stay in but they may want to be closer to the attractions.  The Marriott in Harbor East is definitely nice.

  • We stayed at the Pier 5 one night. It was nice. I think more than anything, the high pricetag is because of location. They have a free shuttle that will take you to a couple different locations. I know it would have taken us to Fells Point if  we had wanted to go bar hopping.

  • We were at the Marriott Waterfront for our "vacation at home" this weekend and it was fabulous.  The location, right by Pier 6 and behind the aquarium, was also perfect for strolling.  DH was able to use his Marriott rewards to get one of the nights for free - which was a lifesaver since prices were so jacked up over the holiday weekend.

  • We recently stayed at the Marriott at Camden Yards.  It is at the corner of Eutaw and Pratt, right across the street from Camden Yards.  We had a great time.

  • I've stayed at Homewood Suites in Harbor East (a Hilton hotel) and at the Hyatt, and both were really nice.
