Dear Shrek

Waking me up between 2-4 every night may be good practice for when I have human children but you are 5 and beyond the age of needing to poop in the middle of the night.  Please take care of your business before bed.  Thanks!

    Poor Ashley!

  • I don't know what his deal is.  He NEVER gets up in the night.  At least not since he was a puppy but for the last 5 nights he starts whining between 2-4 to go outside.  I thought maybe he was sick at first but now it's just a routine.  This routine must stop!

On top of that, he has some ear issues going on and keep shaking his head all.night.long.

  • I'm guessing you can't sleep-train a dog! Sad!!

My sisters dog does the ear shaking thing.  There is a good chance it is allergies.  Try some benadryl and see if that helps with the shaking.  If it doesn't, you may want to take him to the vet for a prescription med (my sister had to do this).

  • Can you force him out before bed?  Maybe that will stop him.  Good Luck, because that really sounds like a PITA Sad
  • Ugh! Poor puppy (and you). Meg wakes me up between 4 and 6 most nights/mornings to take her out, but she's 13 and I.figure it's age.

I'm ahead of you.  He does have allergies.  I pay $80 a month for special awesome food for him that's grain free because of that. *sigh*  However, this is different because normally with allergies, he scratches his ears.  Right now he's shaking them.  I'm doing an ear treatment with him to see if it'll help.  If not, we're off to the vet. Ugh!

That's the new plan.  He normally does his thing in the evening times but truthfully I haven't been paying attention to what he's doing out there but it looks like I'm going to have to monitor him and make sure he goes before bed, not just pee.

  • Ugh, I hate it when Maya decides she needs to go in the middle of the night. I know she went at bedtime, so what the heck!?! The other night we had really bad thunderstorms and she started barking because she was scared. She sleeps in her crate in the family room at night, so DH slept on the couch to keep her company. Aww Stick out tongue
  • Oh no Shrek!  I hope it gets better
