Drinking at work...

My company is so weird. They have a lot of silly rules that are annoying and make you feel like you're in kindergarten. Yet, this week they're going on the other end of the spectrum and doing something fun and borderline inappropriate. We're a liquor distributor and all this week, our managers are making drinks for us to try. And the drinks are not just in small dixie cups, they're in decently sized paper cups. And when one of the supervisors was handing them out, she gave me 2. Today's drink is a Berry Mojito and it is yummy!! So I'm sitting here, trying to do my accounting duties but I honestly feel buzzed. How is this ok during work hours? Idk!

  • Sounds like a fun place to me!  We celebrated a major milestone at our company and we toasted with apple juice!  LOL!  Enjoy your drinks Stick out tongue
  • Hahaha.  I was at a trade show a few weeks ago, and it always baffles me when some of the exhibitors start handing out liquor just to get people to their booth :)

  • That is kind of crazy!  I guess the best way to sell is to sample!

Actually, we just let about 3 people go for this incident that happened here at the store (that should have never happened...Jeez) that involved wine.  We don't even sell beer or wine at this location.

  • This! I work really well with others Wink

  • I have a friend that works for a company that makes Margarita mixers. Every Friday, they set up a bar where sampling is encouraged. I think I'm in the wrong business.

Yes, as a matter of fact this morning I called and when I was listening to the automated system and it said press 1 for the jobline and I thought about it because it is possible I will be leaving my job when I have the baby.  They really want H at my location because they want him in a higher volume store and since he is a manager and I am a staff member we can't work together.  So he will (ideally) make more money and I will be looking for something part time.  But I don't like to drive so I don't think it will work for me.  Sigh.  Berry mojitos sound delish :)

Yeah the drive out to my office is pretty far. How long will you keep working before you go on maternity leave? I wasn't sure how it would work with your job, like would you leave earlier in your pregnancy since you'd be on your feet a lot and all that?

I'm just playing it on how I feel right now.  I have worked with 2 different girls in my position who made it into their 9th month just fine.  Obviously it is easier when you are fit, and when you are late in pregnancy it will be difficult to bend down a lot to get into the coolers (and I'm already having lower back pain again after only 10 weeks) but they did it so I'm hoping I can also.  The way I look at it is I just lost almost 25 lbs.  So if I gain 25 lbs I will weight what I weighed at the beginning of the year, and I worked just fine then.  I will probably gain more than 25 lbs but I practice wishful thinking.  We can afford for me to stop working today and "get by" but we really enjoy the extra income I bring in soo...fingers crossed for an easy pregnancy so I can work until the end and take the majority of maternity leave after the baby comes so I can nurse and nest a lot.  I may need a different job though after because the late nights don't coincide with day care hours very well.

HAHA, clearly my head is not in baby mode just yet. So did you decide to go team green?

    imageBabyFruit Ticker
  • Still undecided but leaning towards finding out.  H's mother might just die if she doesn't find out.  And we already have a green truck, maybe don't want everything else we get to be green also :)  Still have 10 weeks to decide.  This is a tough one.

I have had a feeling since day one - GIRL.

I could never wait to find out, I am just not patient enough. But make the decision for you guys, not for H's mom.....if you choose to wait, she will have to deal.
