I got a groupon to get the Keratin Coppola treatment done on my hair a few weeks ago. I finally went in to have it done and the stylist recommended a brazilian blowout for my particular hair type instead. not sure of the exact differences in the treatments, but both are supposed to smooth your hair and take out frizz.
I was iffy at first because it seemed a little greasy, but now that some of the treatment has washed out a little, it is awesome!
I'd say about 75% of my curl is gone leaving just slight waves. And it literally takes 5 minutes to blow dry my hair straight! No straightener needed. Compared with my usual 30-45 min straightening routine. Frizz is no more even in this insanely hot/humid weather we've been having down here! Seriously, I used to walk outside and I could just feel my hair puffing up/curling. Now it's smooth, soft and straight!
Anyhow..just wanted to rave. It's a little expensive. $150 w/ my groupon, but it's supposed to last 3 months. 3 months of frizz free, super low maintenance hair in these crazy Alabama summers is basically a dream come true.
Re: brazilian blowout
I have heard that, but I think that's been in addressed in some of them since that big fuss. they told me mine was formaldehyde free.
the process was very simple. they washed it, towel dried it, painted on the 'treatment'. There was no smell from it at all, no burning or anything. Unlike when I get my hair colored. I've heard of some where the stylist and person having it done have had to wear masks while it's being done.
After putting on the treatment, they blow dried and straightened it. Then they washed it and put on a deep conditioning mask. I sat underneath a dryer for 10 minutes to let the conditioner do it's thing. They washed that out and then just blow dryed my hair again.
I was in and out in an hour and a half and could wash it that night. I know Keratin can take 3-4 hrs and you can't wash, pin/pull back your hair, sweat, etc for 3 days.
I heard this too, Carmen. It can ruin your hair and even make it fall out. Be careful!
