Game night

We are having some neighbors over Friday night for a game night -- Monopoly, poker, Dominos, etc. They will be coming over around 530...which is right around meal time. Should I have an actual meal for everyone to eat? Maybe fajitas, or burgers? Or should I do snacks? veggies, cheese/crackers/fruit, other things? Which would you prefer, what would you want?

Re: Game night

  • I would really appreciate a meal, because DH and I start to feel uncomfortable digestively if we don't actually eat meals, and eat pickies all night.

We actually went to a housewarming party a few weeks ago that started at 6:30, and all they had was a tray of shrimp, and some dip with bread. I definitely complained to DH about that one.

However, I always offer to bring something like a dip or desert, so that the hostess doesn't have to worry about ALL of the food.

  • Yeah, I would do food, even if you just order a pie or two or something.

  • I don't mind cooking a meal. Is there such a thing as "game friendly" food though? lol Maybe I will just have dinner and drinks, then we can play games hmm...

  • now that I think about it, if you're not going to do a full meal, at least give your guests a heads up so they can eat before hand.

as for game friendly meals.hmm...I don't know! haha

  • I'd do a meal.  If you called and told me to eat beforehand I'd have to eat dinner at 4:30 like I'm some kind of 80 year old person.  You could always just order (or make) pizza, that's pretty game friendly.

Either that or push it back to 7pm and tell everyone to eat beforehand.

If it were me I would want substantial food, but I'd rather eat while we play. I think sliders would be game-friendly. Anything you eat with your fingers that isn't super messy would be good.

  • There will definitely be cupcakes lol. I just don't know how many people want a meal of them. I think we have decided to do build your own taco/fajita...and eat before the games. Thanks y'all!
