preparing for glucose test
i have my glucose test in 3 weeks. my dr told me there is nothing i need to worry/prepare for but i also saw that many stop eating certain foods before the test. any advice on what to avoid?

Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
Re: preparing for glucose test
my appt is at 11:20 I don't have to do anything before hand. didn't have to the first time. the drink tastes like flat soda and you sit for an hour and they draw blood. IMO too many people make it into a bigger deal.
I am in agreement with all pps that this test is NO BIGGIE.
As with navy, I don't get the big deal.
As with Jennifer, chill it. My ob/gyn actually told me to do it and it was much easier.
As with someone who i can't remember while posting, try and get an early appt.
The test is a no brainer...there are no restrictions on the type of food i think i just wasn't allowed to eat...honestly don't remember...
to prepare?
drink and swallow.
LOL
seriously. there is nothing much you can do - your sugar is high or its not - so your dinner the night before won't change it by much. the only thing i'd suggest the earlier the better just to get it out of the way if you're worried about what to eat so I always made mine right away, ate a small breakfast snack to tide me over and went on my way.

I couldn't agree more. People make the 1 or 2 hour glucose WAY too dramatic. Don't change your diet because it will sway results. Nothing to eat beforehand at some places. My drink for the 1 hour tasted like one of those orange flavor ice bars we used to eat as kids. That's about it.
The 3 hour was pretty miserable, the drink was much more concentrated.
But realistically, its a screening test. And even if its positive, you are not necessarily a diabetic. I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour with flying colors and I ate nothing but crap.
hahaha Mrs E! ditto this entire thing!
