So I have some weird back issues.
When I was pregnant I had an itchy mole on my middle back. I am going in to have it removed. It's on the middle part of my back on the right.
I've had weird pain parallel to this mole on my left side. It's like a tingling nerve pain. No muscle pain at all. I've had it for about 2 months and was wondering if it's possible nerve damage from my epi. Big Lar thinks it's from carrying around our large baby (both in utero and on the outside).
I don't know if it's even possible to have nerve damage above where my epi was inserted.
Does anyone have any idea what this tingling might be? Of course I'm convinced that this stupid itchy mole is cancerous and is spreading skin cancer to other parts of my back. Of course it's probably from carrying around these damnn huge milk jugs all day...
Where do I even start getting this looked at? Derm? Primary Care? Help!
Re: What is this back pain?!
I have had nerve pain ever since having my epi's and I see a neurologist for it. I have seen two different doctors at two different practices and they both believe the problem was not from the epi's but from my back. If you go to one and explain the situation I'm sure they could check you out with an MRI and possibly an EMG. The EMG will specifically look for nerve damage.
I have a similar pain in that same area and it also makes that spot feel weak and sometimes like someone is pressing ice on it. They just found that I have a bulging disc pressing on my spinal cord there. Which is also irritating the nerve. They told me it's probably from carrying him while pregnant or the added strain of picking up and putting him down now, since my back was crappy to begin with. I don't know if your pain is from something similar but I just wanted to let you know that I have something like that and it's def not cancer
Some questions: Does the pain get better or worse at certain times of the day?
Does it feel better after rest/ibuprofen/ice/heat?
When you say "tingling" does this mean numbness or do you feel regular pulses of feeling?
Do you have tingling elsewhere? (i.e., down arms, in finger tips, toes?)
I would probably speak to my PCP or GYN in this case. I am not a skin cancer expert, but I have had a dozen pre-cancerous moles removed from my body. None of them have ever been tingly or cause pain. It does sound more neurological (like nerve damage from an epi) or even a compressed disc in your back.
Some questions: Does the pain get better or worse at certain times of the day? Not that I've noticed.
Does it feel better after rest/ibuprofen/ice/heat? I haven't actually tried anything for it bc it's not muscular.
When you say "tingling" does this mean numbness or do you feel regular pulses of feeling? It's like pins and needles.

Thanks Shan. I was hoping you'd reply as I know you've had lots of issues with your back since Tommy was born.
No problem, I swear ever since the kid was born I have doomsday syndrome and I'm always picturing the worst scenario so I can relate to thinking you have cancer or some horrible disease. If it's bothering you I would definitely get it checked out. I had weird spasms down my spine for months after the epi and the neuro did confirm those were from epi and they were just an unfortunate side effect that would go away (and they did). GL!
