Re: tornado watch

  • WTF, when have we ever had a tornado?
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Freaky!  We got hail this morning.  It was pretty big too, like dime sized!  I've never seen that before in MA!  Just the little tiny stuff before.

One touched down in Franklin like 3 years ago, but it was tiny and didn't do any damage. I thought I heard it was over a lake or something, but it's the only one I've ever heard of.
  • Tornados are actually coming down in MA now, this is scary!

Indifferent But these are like little baby tornadoes, right?  Like when people in California say, "It's snowing!"

Some places are reporting collapsed buildings, but the news hasn't been able to confirm with photos. But I guess these are legit tornados. Local news seems to think they are calming down? Eek.

  • You guys, if I kill my mother, it's justifiable homicide, right?  My family and friends appear to have gotten through the first tornado ok (apparently, it went right down my friend's street), but my brother just got to her house (he stopped on his way from work), and she's not there, and another effing tornado touched down over there. And the lines are jammed, so we can't get through to her on her cell phone.  She left the dog, so I'm betting she thought it was clear.  She wouldn't have left the dog if she thought something was wrong.

I'm going to kill her. Seriously.

  • Stay safe ladies. Lots of trees and poles down in Springfield, according to WFSB. Watching it live now. Some overturned cars and building damage too.
  • Apparently, my mother went to church, because it's a holy day.   So yeah. Still going to kill her. She's stuck there, I assume, because she hasn't come home yet.

Just talked to my brother, (who is now stuck at our mother's house), and his girlfriend is hunkered down in the basement at their house, because the cloud just touched down a mile from their house.

I'm a freaking wreck, you guys. Seriously.  What the h*ll, Mother Nature?

  • Sounds super stressful ead, I'm sorry. Glad your Mother is safe. I really hope this weather is done for you guys now!

  • Thanks, guys. I just talked to her, my brother, and my grandfather, and everyone is ok. Still waiting to hear from friends, but I'm hoping they're all ok, too. The news had me a bit hysterical for a while there.

The first tornado took the exact route my mom had driven home not twenty minutes earlier. I seriously couldn't stop shaking when I heard that.

    That is so scary!

The news actually mentioned a bunch of people stuck in churches!

  • Yeah, I was not amused. Especially when she told me that she went UP to the choir loft. I just yelled at her about being a complete donkey at that point, though I was probably incoherent, what with all the rage and relief.

    Hope everyone here is ok!

  • this is insane!!!! I was one of the people who didn't take it 100% seriously. my friend called to tell me that MA st police had been calling family to get them in basements, and I was out shopping! Embarrassed

the skies are looking like strobe lights in Ashland, and my poor pup is refusing to be more than 1 inch from me!

i hope everyone and their families are safe and sound.

BTW...there was a large tornado to touch down in Worcester like 50 years ago

  • It just passed through Waltham and WOW that was impressive!  I usually hate storms but that was kinda cool.  I even got some video and DH got a couple of lightning pics :)

  • I just saw on the news there are 4 confirmed deaths from the storm.

Ditto this but I was in the basement with my gsd in hopkinton. The amount of lighting was insane.

  • ead, I'm so glad your family is safe.  I was glued to the news as soon as I got home last night.  I can't believe the tornadoes were that strong!  I can't believe there was more than one!
  • Thanks all!  I just talked to my mom, and she said they didn't even lose power where she is.  But about a half-mile away is totally wrecked. The pictures are crazy. My high school was in pieces - the roof got torn off, one of the walls collapsed, and the windows got blown out.

I have several friends who are police officers in Springfield, and I know a few of the firefighters/EMTs as well. They've been on-duty since last night, and lord only knows when they will be able to get home. So please keep them in your thoughts today.
