Volunteer position at the zoo

Do you remember a few months ago that I applied for a volunteer position at the zoo to help feed the animals? Initially I heard from them and they said they filled all the positions but I seemed like a great candidate so they would keeo my application on file. Well, I finaly heard from them via email yesterday. They said a dietary prep aid position in the animal embassy has opened up and they thought of me. I emailed them back last night to say that I am still interested. I'm really excited bc the animal embassy is where they keep all the animals they use for their community outreach programs. : fingers crossed: that I get it.

  • That sounds fun!  What animals would you get to work with?  I hope you get it!
  • Good Luck!  That sounds like so much fun!
  • Good luck! Does dietary prep mean you'd be cutting up the veggies and what not? Would be interesting to find out what all the animals eat.

  • The animals I would be working with are the one in the "Animal Embassy". They are the animals used for the community out reach programs. Think like zoo mobiles, and media appearances. Small mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and penguins. Mostly friendly animals that the public can interact with. I am a little worried about what "food" items I may have to handle....like bugs (crickets, grubs etc).

I dont think its going to work out Crying

The Saturday position was for every other Saturday. The Sunday position was for every 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month. I work every 3rd weekend so I can't commit to either one of those positions.

She did mention that she was looking for some weekday help as well and wanted to know what days I am available. The problem is I'm not really available the same days each week. I emailed her back and said that I am mostly off Tuesday's. I told her that my schedule was already set for the next 8 weeks but if I knew now what she needed I could try to make my schedule work for the next sign up.

I haven't heard back from her yet. I really really want this. I mean any given week I usually have 4 days off so I should have plenty of time to volunteer but not necessarily the same days each week.
