Window/Siding Recs Needed
We are in the midst of exploring options for window and siding replacement companies and would appreciate any recommendations you can provide. We are happy to look at all size companies/recommendations and are in the vicinity of St. Paul, if that makes a difference for your recommendation.
TIA!
Re: Window/Siding Recs Needed
We had all of our windows redone four years ago by Rusco. We were really pleased with them with the quality and service. My only complaint is that they put us on their call list for future services (promotional calls) and for awhile it got a little out of hand. They didn't do the calls themselves, but had an independant company do it. I think one week we received four calls, despite asking to be removed from the list. Finally, I emailed Rusco with a "this is your written notice to remove us from the list" letter and that worked. That said, I blame the marketing company more than Rusco. We're extremely happy with our windows.
I know they also do siding (from several promotional calls).
I work at the NW Suburban Remodeling Fair and Sunrise Remodelers has been in for a few years and people seem to like them; they won an Angies List award last year.
They are in St. Paul. They have an odd email system on their website, but Joel does sales - joel@sunriseremodelers.com
I'm not sure if this is a recommendation or not. We had Lampert Exteriors in Roseville replace all of our windows 4 years ago. They put in Anderson windows except for one window that is Pella (don't ask, long story). They did an incredible job. Everyone who comes over is in awe with the windows and the trim work they did. Installation day was smooth and they communicated really well with me. The Anderson windows are fine but I much prefer the Pella one. It feels higher quality and sturdier and we don't get the condensation in the winter on that window like we do with the Anderson's. If I were going to do it again, I'd go with Pella.
We loved Lampert so much that we had them replace 3 storm doors and our patio door a year later. I'm not sure if they did a crap job or the doors are just really bad quality (Larson) but we were seriously disappointed. At any rate, I had to call them out 2 or 3 times in the first year because the doors kept getting off center and not closing or opening right. They still don't work right but we gave up on calling them and now fiddle with them on our own. To Lampert's credit, they were responsive when I called and usually had a supervisor come out to fix the problems.
As a side note, one thing we didn't really realize until late in the game - and maybe you already know this - is that there's a difference between inserts and full frame replacements. With full frame replacement, they remove everything down to the original opening and you get a new frame, sill, trim inside and out, etc. With inserts, they insert a new window and use the existing sill, trim and frame. Our Anderson's are full frame replacements which I love because the windows are much larger than the 45 year old ones that were in there. The Pella is an insert and it's so small compared to the others.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Not sure if this is what you are looking for-
You can use this company for free and they will provide you with 3-4 local approved contractors in their network to get a free competitive estimate.
