Can you wash the re-usable grocery bags?

The cloth ones I figured were fine, but what about those that are sort of plastic-y? Or the insulated ones? Will the washer ruin them?

Re: Can you wash the re-usable grocery bags?

  • I usually just hose off the plastic ones and let them air dry. I feel like my wash machine would shred them.
  • I've washed the ones that are made from recycled bottles in the top-loader. I washed a burlap one and that turned out no bueno. I wouldn't dry them though, just hang them.

  • I haven't done this before, but it might work on a delicate cycle.

  • I could probably just wipe them out with Lysol wipes, too, right? I get nervous with the raw meat in there.
  • I usually just fill up a big tub with water and add a bit of dish soap, swish them around, and air dry upside down.
