xp: Kitchen before and after and a question (pip)
I think it was Mrs. C who said on here that she liked seeing before and afters and since I'm darn proud of my kitchen, I'll share. And then you have to help me with some decorating advice, please.

So, now my dilemma. We were scared to paint the portion behind the stove in the blue. It's just so bold and we thought it might be too much and draw attention to the ugly backside of the pans. So what would you do? Keep it white? Paint it blue? Paint it yellow? Here's a closeup of that area:
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

LOVE that color!
and I would paint that area. Your pots are well-loved :-)
Looks good! I would do the area above the range red because it would pick up the red mixer, tea kettle and pan. And I like red and turquoise together.

if your pots do bother you (and they don't me - mine look the same, if not worse) a little barkeeper's friend or a vinegar soak and then a baking soda scrub will get them good and shiny again. But then people won't know you cook!
I disagree about the red, though - I think that will make it too busy - and then you're staring at a red wall while you cook....
I second the back splash. I think it would look really nice.

Love this! It looks so good!
I would either paint it blue, or get some kind of tile back-splash as pp mentioned. And I do love the idea of red, maybe just add more red accents with your decorating.
Super cute!
It looks great! I love how bright and bold it is!
I like the suggestion of a backsplash for the white wall. A yellow would work, but I also think the right shade of green might work.
Yeah, we thought about red (my friend with an interior design background is helping me. I can't tell you how much courage that gives me when she gives the stamp of approval to my decisions!). But the the more I look at it, the more it cries out for yellow accents instead of red.
I'm thinking I'll paint it either the same color or a shade lighter on the same paint chip (but I actually sampled that shade and it didn't look right at the time. Maybe I'll have to break it out again). Do you think yellow wouldn't work? I think there's far too much tile in that kitchen now to add anymore, though a backsplash would be pretty. Thanks guys!
Looks great! I wouldn't paint it red unless you want to draw attention to the space which it sounds like you don't. Finding the right shade of red can be tricky too.
Maybe get the same blue and go 50%?

^ this is a great idea.
if you go with a basic coat or 3 of paint - just make sure it's glossy so you can wipe it down easily! And then post pictures!
