Running Group in Alexandria?

I am new to D.C. (and the D.C. nest board!) and am looking to join a running group in the Alexandria area.  Does anyone have any recommendations for one that they know of or for a website that is reliable for finding running groups?  I'd love to get back into more distance running and to meet people in this area!

Re: Running Group in Alexandria?

  • Pacers sponsors a running group.  I think they do long runs on Sat. mornings and a weeknight run as well.
  • Potomac River Running has a group in Arlington. I think they do early morning weekday runs.

  • Arlington Road Runners Club meets in Rosslyn every Saturday morning to do long runs. Most folks are training for a half or full marathon and run a variety of speeds from walking to less than 7 minute miles.
  • Pacers in Old Town (King Street) has a running group that does 3, 4 and 5 mile runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning around 7.

  • Pacers and Potomac River Running (in Arlington) are both great resources to meet up with other runners.  I am also the running coach for a 1/2 marathon program for the DC area if you ever want to do that, but you have to fundraise for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, the program is called Team Challenge.  It is a great way to meet other runners.

I saw these T-shirts on the trail last weekend and wondered what the story was! Great cause.
