Father's Day

Anyone have ideas for their DH's or Dad's? I was guilt-tripped by my brother into getting my Dad a gift instead of just a card this year. He suggested doing a Cardinal's jersey since they live in St. Louis, and that I should get a Twins jersey since we're in MN. "It would only be right" if he had a jersey from each state his kids are in. My Dad's a big baseball fan. So I found one on Amazon for super cheap (but great quality) and took it up to a local store that does lettering to get his name and "1" put on the back.

I'm stumped for DH. We just went out for dinner and a movie for Mother's Day, which is kind of what I had planned for him. But then he said that he'd like a Twins jersey as well. The only problem is I know he'd never wear it! We don't go to games because they play 4 hrs away from us. My Dad goes to a bunch of games because both the Cards and Twins do their Spring training down by them. Soo...yea, I'm stuck!

Re: Father's Day

  • Yea, I have no idea what I'm getting hubby or my dad.  I'm always stumped.  My dad is the type of person who goes out and gets whatever he wants whenever he wants.  So, what do you get someone who already has what they want?

Hubby mentioned something that he wanted to do, but I forget what it's called because I've never heard of it before. I'll have to ask him again tonight.  Other than that, I'll probably get him some clothes or something. Dinner and a movie sounds good too...ummmm.

  • Unless LO is coming 12-14 days early, H is not getting anything...we didn't celebrate mother's day for me, and won't do father's day for him unless there is a baby born...

If there is a baby born by then- I'm guessing the gift will be the baby since you know, we'll be adjusting and all! But if not, I'll order him some cutesy thing online or maybe print a photo of baby and him and put it in a frame...if I remember.

I need to figure out what to get my dad...He is like Maurika's dad...whatever he wants he gets. Maybe something for one of his liquor stores...?

  • We are going mother's/father's day at the same time because May was so crazy this year for us.  I think I'm going to make use of my new embroidery machine though and do some dishtowels with monogram's on them for my SIL and mom.  My dad has already requested a polo shirt with Mickey on it so, I'll probably do that for him.  My brother - not sure.  I might try to embroider a Dallas Stars shirt for him or something.  I need to figure out if I can buy the logo or something somewhere.

  • Well, I realized it was the first year I didn't get my mom anything except a card, totally not on purpose-baby brain! But that means dad is just going to get a card too. I'm going to start another post bc I have a question about gift for DH.
  • I got my dad a new pair of Teva land/water shoes. He LOVES them and wears them all summer long.

  • Ali, what about a Twins t-shirt? Less expensive than a jersey and something he could wear more often. I got H a Dallas T for Christmas last year and he wore that thing out.

I'm getting my dad a Grumpy baseball hat. It's a joke because he is going by the name "Grampy" with LO and always calls himself grumpy Grampy. I know he will get a kick out of it. We are also having both sets of parents to our house to do a cookout so I kind of count the cost of entertaining towards their gift. I know it sounds kind of cheap, but they understand we are trying to save as much as possible right now.
