Glad that I found the cute pup and was able to get in touch with the owners. The owners were out at a birthday party and came home as soon as I called them. The dog must be an escape artist. I'm so glad this had a happy ending.
Anyway, the dog lives a block away and I wandered around asking people in the neighborhood if they recognized him. It was a good way to meet some more neighbors, but I couldn't believe that the people who lived next door to the pup did not even recognize it. Some others recognized it, but seriously how do you not at least recognize a dog that lives right next door? Maybe I'm more aware of dogs than others, but I thought that was odd.
Re: Found a lost dog tonight
I wouldn't recognize a dog from right next door. I might have a vague recollection that the 'found' dog was the same color as one I had seen around the neighborhood, but that is the extent of the recognition you would get from me.
A Little Bird and a Monkey Butt
I know the names of all the "regular" dogs at the dog park but not one owner's name. :-) (actually that's a lie, I know ONE owner's name.)
I'm glad to hear the story has a happy ending and the dog made it safely home. Had it been outside though? It's a huge pet peeve (hah) of mine when people leave their dogs out when they are not home. I would feel way too much guilt if something happened when I wasn't there...
This was my SIL's beagle...it was out through the whole Hugo Tornado...we were in Hugo when the tornado went through and she had no clue. We found the dog in the backyard on his chain hovering in his plastic igloo thingy and I swear the dog was deaf from all the hail that pounded its igloo, because he didn't respond for several minutes to our calling him. We rescued him and took him home in our truck...they had over $16,000 in damage to their house and that dog stayed outside through it all.
It wasn't much long after that that you ladies helped me find a nice place for her to surrender the dog, because it had no life with her.
OMG, that poor dog!!!!!!!
Picturing my guys going through that literally brings tears to my eyes. I hope the dog is happier in its new home!
No, it wasn't left outside. The owners are gutting their house and living in a camper in the driveway during the renovations. The dog figured out how to open the camper door. They said it's the first time it happened and will find a way to prevent it from happening again. They seemed like very responsible owners.
