Question for My Workout Buddies
I weighed myself this morning and I am not happy
Since the weather is nicer, it seems I am busier with projects, cleaning around the house, going here going there, etc that I don't have time to work out. I still go for a couple walks a day with Sadie and I bike to work
(weather dependent). I'm just not getting my a$$ whooped by Jillian.
Does anybody else notice this too? When do you workout? I wish there was more time in the day!!
Re: Question for My Workout Buddies
My schedule is always the same, which is pretty much the only way I stay on track. I'm expected at kickboxing Mondays and Wednesdays or my instructor (and friend) yells at me. Tuesdays I run, and then try to get to a weightlifting class either Sat or Sun. Can you join a gym w/ classes? This is literally the only thing that has kept me accountable - and I've been at it for like 2 years now.
At the same time, I'm not happy with the scale either! My workouts are always different because the classes change, so it's not a problem of plateauing I don't think. More likely the problem is FOOD, and I have found that I workout to keep toned, but weightloss (for me) is totally depending on if I'm eating appropriate portion sizes. I make healthy choices at least during the week, but I think I still eat too much.
That was quite a ramble, but trust me you're not alone on this neverending battle!
I just started the 30DS this week in preparation for my vacation to Daytona Beach in July. I had previously said "I'll get up early" for my workout days, but decided I bagged it too often, so now I get up at 6am instead of 6:30 every day so some days I work out, others I do some extra studying/ reading. This is my first week doing it but the logic of changing my mental approach to getting up makes me believe it will be more effective.
HTH, hope you can find your motivation!

you gotta fit it in! no matter how hard! and if you can't you should def compansate diet wise. i screwed up BIG TIME this weekend and gained... gulp... 9 pounds in 3 days. yes, i am embarrassed that is stupid. but... bday weekend and we had a big party so i guess that is to blame. thank fully i am down 5 today and only have 4 more to go to get back to where i was and then only 5-10 more after that. poopy.
routine is def the best way to go about it. i meet w/ a trainer 2x/week - then run immediatly after - so i get a super calorie burn those days - follwed by a healthy dinner. on the other days i try and get a run in (or not cut the grass with the push) and i take Sundays and Tuesdays off.
Summer is better as I am a teacher and have plenty of time to workout! But good luck and hopefully you can get back into the swing of things! Give yourself a treat to motivate yourself... IF i can get to my ultimate goal (15 to go from today - ouch) I get a new VS bikini = yum!
good luck!

I actually don't go to the gym at all - I hate the gym - like reallllly dislike it. I try to find alternate and, oftentimes, "natural" ways to exercise through just staying active. With that said, I have really begun to dislike the tone in my arms and stomach so I've been following the workouts offered in a fitness newsletter I receive by e-mail everyday. It takes me about 20 minutes and I feel great afterwards - and it keeps me inside of my house most often because it's stuff I can do anywhere.
Mel - when you're cleaning and doing stuff around the house, exercise! When I talk on the phone, I lay on my back, hike my legs in the air and do air biking! When I'm washing dishes, I'm doing calf raises.
And...um...I'm gonna go there...have sex! And don't be afraid to...um...get on...top? Has anyone else noticed that it can be an incredible leg workout besides myself? Too graphic? TMI? Sorry ladies - you know I'm real!

My inner thighs are like death after that Jeni! : )
I have found that I miss workouts more this time of year, as well, but I am getting ready to teach my own aerobics class, so I have been doing the classes that I will be teaching like every day at home. This week I have been doing a lot of organizing at the house, so that has kept me active and moving. Classes or workout buddies really are the best way to stay accountable. I find if it is up to me to workout alone at home, I am WAY more likely to skip. What makes me go every day is to bring my workout gear to work with me and go to the gym immediately after work. I read once just at least make yourself get changed into your workout clothes and get to the gym (or where ever you workout at), and if you STILL don't want to workout, you are probably burnt out for the day, but 95% of the time you will just workout once you are already to that point.
Get outside and do interval running. I find this keeps me moving the longest and it is the most fun to me. You can set it up so that you run for like one song, walk for one song or two on your MP3 player and build your way up from there.
HTH!
Haha...DH says I'm the only person he knows that does squats and leg lifts while I brush my teeth so I definitely try to do something while I do mundane things.
@the sex comment...it is TMI Thursday so have at it! And I agree...it's a workout!!
Thanks for the support ladies! I'm was so in shape during winter (when it doesn't count) because I had a set schedule. Hopefully I can find a way to get back into that routine.

Like the other girls said, you have to make time! Even if it's only 15 minutes a day. I try to fit all of my workouts in before work, but if I sleep in, I make myself do something at night. That's why I really like P90X ab ripper, it's only 15 minutes!!!
Also, when friends or family want to hang out or have some quality time, suggest a hike or a gym class instead of watching TV and pigging out. This definitely saves me, I used to pig out like crazy in college with my friends and weighed about 30 lbs more than I do now, even though I was working out and running more back then.
