Bedding

Which do you prefer duvet, comforter or quilt?

DH thinks we should buy a comforter for the guest room, but I'm thinking PITA to wash.

Re: Bedding

  • I prefer a comforter, I think they just look nicer. I have a huge washer and we just throw ours in there.

  • We have a comforter but thanks to our 4 legged babies it's seen better days. I found a duvet at Target that I really like.

  • Duvet or comforter. I don't think they are THAT hard to wash. I usually have to drape it over the couch to get it fully dried though.

  • We just have a down alternative comforter. I can't spend the money on a duvet. We wash ours in the washing machine and it usually takes 2 times to dry.

  • I think that is why I prefer a duvet, it doesn't take longer to dry.
  • Definitely duvet, because of the ease of washing/drying, and also if you ever get sick of it you can just buy a new cover instead of having to buy a whole comforter. Makes sense to me!

  • I like a comforter, but DH gets too hot, so we had a quilt-like blanket until this past weekend when he decided to get a duvet from IKEA.  Apparently their duvets are temperature rated and we got one that is supposed to keep us cool when we're feeling hot, but I've been waking up sweating so I don't think it works.  Still need to find a cover for it too because the ONE duvet cover at IKEA that I liked was not in stock.

  • We have a quilt-like-thing in our room, but I prefer duvets because of the cat hair. It's just easier to strip it off every other week and wash it, versus a quilt that takes like 3 hours in the dryer (we aren't allowed to hang stuff out per the HOA).

Wanna make the HOA HATE you? Florida is a right to hang state. http://law.onecle.com/florida/county-organization-and-intergovernmental-relations/chapter163.html 163.04
