WWYD Re: PP healing (warning: TMI)

I tore up front delivering J and even though the Dr. attempted to stitch it, the stitches didn't take; so what was once one BC (beef curtain) is now two.  Although it's not hugely noticeable, I can see a difference and it is much more sensitive in this area than ever before, and not in a good way.

When I realized that the stitches didn't take, I went back to the OB.  They informed me that once I was completely healed the sensitivity would go away.  They would not restitch the area, and I agreed that it probably wouldn't work anyway, since the tissue was already starting to heal.

Baby J is almost 3 months old.  I still have enormous amounts of sensitivity, especially when I go to the bathroom or "get busy" with DH, to the point where I dread both.  The tissue seems to continue to separate more with time and after these occasions.

I'm afraid if I go back to OB, they'll just assume I want it changed for cosmetic reasons and if they do change it, it will require a surgical procedure that would be extremely uncomfortable.  I'm also afraid that if I just leave it, it will continue to separate it's just completely gross looking AND horribly sensitive in the process.

WWYD?  Go back to OB or let it be for a few more months and hope for the best?

Re: WWYD Re: PP healing (warning: TMI)

  • I had that happen with Katen's delivery. It took probably 9mos to heal in it's own way, but the sensitivity went away. Mostly but the sensitivity left is... good.  lol

I think it never hurts to get a second opinion though. Especially since it's hurting you a lot.

  • ouchy!

I would go to the OB's office and get a second opinion, it doesn't hurt to- no pun intended.

  • I say go back.  You're uncomfortable and you're the one that has to live with it, not them.
