FL and other southern/coastal area ladies

Is it just me or is the crazy weather this year making you super nervous about hurricane season? We live only 30 miles or so from the coast and our area is way overdue for a hurricane. I know there was already a tropical low off the coast of FL near Jacksonville yesterday plus this heat has been INSANE. I think I am going to die if the Tallahassee area doesn't get some rain soon Crying

Re: FL and other southern/coastal area ladies

  • It certainly makes me think that we're due for a bad one, huh? I am not too nervous because it's difficult for Naples to get hit hard based on our location - the hurricane would either have to make a very sharp turn if coming from the south, or it would have to go across a lot of land before it got to us if coming from the east.

That said, it has certainly happened before, and I am thankful that we have impact glass on all our windows! I need to get an evacuation plan in place just in case, though...

    p.s. It's over 100 degrees in Washington, D.C., so I'm actually quite content with our 92 :)

  • It got to 103 here yesterday.. the heat index right now is 96. I seriously thought I was going to pass out walking to my car.. this summer is going to be BRUTAL.. especially when i start walking like a penguin and can barely move lol. Yeah its been awhile since a hurricane has come up through the gulf but that is how we usually get hit. Either we get hit or it goes more west and hits AL or LA. We are temporarily living in a mobile home until we find a home we like to purchase so we will have to evacuate if a hurricane comes our way. Luckily my parents live in a sturdy home less than a mile away so we will probably end up staying with them if that happens.

  • 103???? I am not sure why SOUTH florida is the most pleasant place to be right now, but I shall not complain.

If I can find a way time my pregnancy (if at all) I will certainly try as hard as possible for me to NOT be > 3 mos during the summertime

  • YES!  I'm worried that its going to be a bad season!  We went last week to buy a luggage car topper thing so we would be ready to go if we need to evacuate. It is so disgustingly humid here!  I can't stand it!

  • lol yeah we have been breaking heat records for the past couple weeks. I think S Fl tends to get more of a seabreeze. The central part of the panhandle gets no seabreeze at ALL. We just get super hot sticky air Sad I remember going to Orlando a couple years ago to Seaworld and it wasnt nearly as bad as where we're at.
