Growing up in Livonia, I always looked forward to this as a kid. I mostly just looked forward to the rides/games/fireworks, but now as an adult I'm wondering what else might be fun to do/see. I've heard some of the tastefest events are pretty cool.
Anyone plan on attending any of the events this year? Anyone been in past years? What did you do?

Re: Livonia Spree
This is completely nerdy, but we always go to see the racing pigs. I was never very fond of rides and the games were usually a rip-off. The pigs are always a hit. LOL. The first summer DH and I were dating we went to watch the pigs and as we're sitting there waiting for the "race" to start he looks at me like, "I cannot believe I'm doing this." Hahaha
Everything Wedding ♥ Persnickety Plates
I can't enjoy the games anymore because now as an adult I understand what a rip-off they are too. Although I have to admit, if Emma were older and wanted to play some... I'd suck it up and pay for them. lol
I always liked the racing pigs too!!! I haven't gone in years, but I was thinking that Emma might enjoy seeing that this year. Maybe we can all make a date of it. lol
Same here. My neighborhood friend and I would save our money for the all-day ride pass every year. It really was a lot of fun.
I've never been to Livonia Spree, but I'd like to check it out. Now that we live farther away, I'm not sure we'll get to it this year.
I've gone to some of the Plymouth fairs, Milford Memories, Arts, Eats & Beats, River Days, and I'm sure others I can't think of right now. Hopefully we'll get the chance to go to some of them again this year. Woodward Cruise will be big for us this year since we're close to it. DH wants to have a party that weekend to celebrate his big 4-0. Yay.
I just remembered a funny story about one year at the Spree. The first summer that DH and I were dating, we decided to go to the fireworks on the last day. Always trying to look hot, I stupidly wore these heeled shoes. I don't know what I was thinking, because clearly we were gonna' be doing a lot of walking. We ended up parking in some neighborhood seriously like a mile away. The walk TO the fireworks wasn't too bad, but the walk BACK to the car nearly killed me. I seriously think my feet were bleeding. I remember kinda' joking with DH (BF at the time) that he should come pick me up somewhere. He thought I was joking, but I was totally serious.
Moral of the story: I was an idiot.
The end.
Oooh!! That would be fun!! You could have everyone over for the party and maybe enjoy the festivities too.
Yea, that's the plan so far. I'm not sure how we're going to figure out the whole parking situation since we're on a main road. Hopefully people won't care about walking a block or 2 from the side streets. Although I'm sure it'll be an all day deal, so people will be coming and going.
There are definitely elephant ears. You should go!!
I work in Livonia and may have to make a run up there in the afternoon one day just for some elephant ears, SOOO good, I make them at home but they are just not the same!
