I went to my 6 week check up and I discussed BC with my doctor... And frankly, I don't know what to choose.
Because I had a C-section, it's not recommended to get pregnant for at least a year.... which is just fine because I'm not considering LO#2 until Evie is out of diapers (so 2-3 years).
I haven't been on BC in years, like maybe 5 or 6... and it was for about 6 months because I had various issues with the kinds I was taking.
I'm thinking about using Mirena because 1- I suck at taking pills (can never remember and just don't like it) and 2- the length of time it'll be before I think about LO#2. Has anyone used it or considering it after you're done being pregnant? Any other rec's?

It is, but I don't mind it because I just put it by my toothbrush and do it then.

I really like that!
I really could do without having a period. Sans period 9 months has spoiled me!

Are you BFing? If so, your options are kind of limited. Mini pill, IUD, or condoms. I personally used the mini pill and it worked fine.
I am currently on Yaz and it's fine except it's made my periods all kinds of wonky.
But, since we're for sure done having kids, Guy is going next week for a vasectomy. Snip snip! Yay! I can't wait to not have to worry anymore.
I want to convince Dan to do this after baby #2 or 3... even though I would be getting another c-section and could easily get my tubes tied during the procedure. Another reason being is I'm not sure if I want 2 or 3 kids yet and I'm pretty sure I won't know the answer to that question until after #2.

::nods:: yeah, obviously if you're going to want more kids that's not a good option for you. But, when the time comes, it's something to look into because it's much easier for a guy to get that done than for a woman to have her tubes tied. Our insurance covers it 100%, it takes all of 10 minutes and they said he should be able to work the next day.
Mirena was suggested to me a few years ago. I did some poking around and asked friends who were on it. They had nothing good to say. Two of them had serious depression and anxiety with it (one had a child, one did not. no Hx of either before hand) and two more had non stop bleeding and spotting for 5 months. They all had it removed not long after that conversation. If you're considering it, really ask around and do some reading before you have it put in.
I see myself either going back on the pill or charting after Olive gets here. I'm really hoping that exclusively BFing keeps my period away for a decent amount of time so I dont have to think about it too much. We'd probably use condoms as back up though since I'm not even sure when we would try again for another baby. I never had problems taking the pill. I always kept it in the drawer where my toothpaste is and took it before bed. I think I forgot 4 times in the 16 years I was on it.
These were my problems before when I was taking BC. The first pill I tried I had abnormal bleeding. The second one caused me to get super depressed and anxious feeling the two weeks around my period. I asked the Dr about this and she said it's different for everyone and that it would really be a trial to see how my body would react to whichever BC I chose.
She also recommended the ring and the patch. I'm assuming those are OK for BF'ing women.
I think it would be easier to decide on which pill to take rather than a different form... but I'm really doubting my memory skills. I keep my prenatal vitamins next to my bed... and I STILL forget to take them some nights....

I am a nuvaring user and I love it- I need to think about this as well. I go in next week for my appointment and I know they are going to ask me. I told mark I was going to do Mirena since we werent planning to have kids that soon and he seemed not on that page. I guess we have some discussing to do here VERY soon. I am not sure if I can use nuvaring and be breastfeeding. Need to read up but I do love it. I know some people have trouble with it during sex- but we never had any issues.
